The next day

"I'm beautiful, I'm smart, I'm brave, and it is going to be a good day. I'm beautiful, I'm smart, I'm brave, and it is going to be a good day..." I recite my morning ritual everyday. It boosts my self confidence and helps me get over the unfortunate events that I know they'll just happen. Umm hello have you met my luck?

I get into my skinny high waisted light blue jeans and my favorite grey crop top typed on it "My Game" and my white high heeled converse. I only wear high heeled converse so that I don't feel that I'm that short.

I exit the house after double checking myself in the mirror. I wait for the bus and when it comes I wave goodbye to my mom and get inside it. Stephanie and Avery already went to their houses to change their clothes.
......................
At lunch

"Cass, last night was amazing!" I sometimes wish Avery would stop squealing in my ears. My poor ear drums.

"Yeah and I LOVED your mom's outfit. Even at home she stays a fashionista!" Stephanie, the fashion guru, said. "But most importantly, your mom's cookies! Can you bring a dozen tomorrow?" Sometimes, I think Avery loves her tummy more than she loves us.

"Avery you're so predictable, so brought some for today. They're in my locker, wait I'll get them." And with that I leave them and head to the hallways to my locker.

I finally get to my locker and dial the numbers. As soon as I open it I saw the bag of cookies, I knew she would ask for some so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't mess up my whole locker to find this bag. I hold it and just try to remove it from its place. But I wouldn't budge! Like what the heck why is it not being removed?!

I thought the glue and the scissors I kept in my locker for arts&crafts class just made an interaction. I try and try and try. I finally detach it from my other things, but as soon as I let go of it wanting to close it, I felt like a waterfall was above me and I just took a shower in it. While I'm trying to comprehend what just happened, I see a small note where the bag was placed. It said,

"Dear Cassidy, you stood me up so I wanted to give you a "sweet smell" regarding that behavior. I know we hit it off with the wrong foot but I really want to ask you out on a date properly. After you finish this note look inside the bag and  I'll be waiting.
~love, Alex.
PS: your birthday isn't the brightest code."

I obey his instructions and look inside the bag where I found a small box. I lifted it and open it to see the shiniest ring I could ever see. I twist it around and see the back that said "meet me at the park near the school at 5pm sharp" with tiny letters. I'm blushing so hard right now.

I continue on with my day holding the bag of scented cookies to give them to Avery. I reach the lunch hall and sit down at our usual table, handed out the bag of cookies and adjusted my seat while my girls were just... Looking at me.

"What?", I questioned.

"Umm Cass, what happened to you?" Stephanie broke the silence.

"Nothing important." They'll kill me if they found out I'm going on a date with this creep.

"Then why do you smell like a wet dog?" Aver took a bite from the cookies and continued, "And why do these cookies taste like chemicals?"

I get my shirt close to my nose and smell it. I smell awful! That jerk.

"Avery, how do you how chemicals taste?" I tried changing the subject.
.........................
"I can't believe you sprayed me with that freak smell!" I burst my voice out at Alex.

"Cassidy, I know you think I'm a dirtbag. Just give me a chance to show you I'm really not what you think." He starts his speech.

"You fight with others, you snuck into my room and saw me dancing, you followed me down the stairs, and now I smell like a wet dog." What does he want me to think of him?

He doesn't answer me and just holds my hands to drag me out of the park to go a cafe nearby. We get inside and sit in the cornered couch. He ordered some drinks and desserts, I think he knows the owner because he's always whispering and smiling to him.

Then out of nowhere I heard his name being announced but the man on stage. It is karaoke night, isn't it?

"But she said where you wanna go, how much you want to risk. I'm not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts, some superhero, some fairy tale bliss, just something I can turn to, somebody I can kiss, I want something just like this."

He has an amazing voice.

He looked at me whenever he said I want something just like this. Hey! Butterflies in the stomach, you'd better stop your fluttering. It is not the time, well, at least not yet.
