I wandered around my bedroom, hands through my hair, my breathing was rapid. I kept trying to assure myself everything was fine, but yet, it was harder to pretend than I thought it'd be. I felt so cold, my body was shaking. I just couldn't calm myself. Being told everything is in your head isn't really a subtle blow...
I looked at Frankie's pendant which I had taken off, and put down on my bed spread. "If he isn't real.. than why do I have that?" I asked. I sighed. "Yeah... yeah that's it... he is real, everyones just trying to protect me that's all..." I mumbled to myself, by this point, I was sounding completely mad. I sat on the floor, closing my eyes tightly. I thought for a moment, looking around my room for a second before standing up again. If I could find evidence of Frankford Miguel's existence than no one could ignore me... they wouldn't be able to call me crazy. I looked at the pictures I had yanked out previously to show my Mother, but... they were useless. Frankie was still not in any of them.
"Well, that's of no use to me..."
I walked over to a suitcase that sat in the corner, seeing as how I hadn't come home from the Asylum too long ago, some of my things weren't unpacked. I opened it, and dug around inside, passing through clothes and other necessities. I pulled out an orange envelope, still held closed by an old pin. I pulled the pin out quickly, opening it and walking over to the table in my room, dumping the pages it held within onto the top of the table. Old child drawings I had done, and old letters were inside..
Frankie would occasionally write me letters to check on me; but they rarely seemed to come through to me. I picked up four papers, each in Frankie's hand writing. I felt my blood run cold as the writing vanished from the pages. My hand had gone numb out of fear, and the pages swiftly fell from my hand, landing by my feet. I could feel my breathing, raspy and heavy... A lot of things were happening at once, too many things...
I had guessed my eldest sister heard me scrambling around, as she opened my door and stepped inside. "Mikael? What are you doing? It's too early for you to be running around like this... I'd suggest getting more sleep, you have to wake up again in an hour." She said, I looked to her, "Sammy?" I mumbled, Samantha was the oldest of each of us, as she later closed the door behind herself. "Didn't they fix the screws in your head? I thought that's why you were released back home, that you were fine." She said, in a groggy voice with a yawn.
I grabbed her wrist, tugging her over to the table in my room, showing her the old drawings I had done nearly five years ago. She yanked her hand from my grip. "What's wrong with you?" she asked, as she looked at me with a concerned expression. I pointed to the drawings, one had Frankie in it... I guess I had drawn that out of sadness at one point... "Come on, doesn't he look familiar?" I asked, a tremble to my voice. "As much as I'd like to say yes... Mikey... I really don't know anyone named Frankie."
"Frankford Miguel lived right up the road Samantha!" I exclaimed, she gave me a nervous look, like she was scared of me. "Miguel... Mikael that families last member died a few years ago, you probably didn't hear because you were in the Asylum at the time. The Miguel Family was all kinds of screwed up, they were so religious it was a miracle they ever survived as long as they did. I heard they sacrificed family members who weren't religious, to the Gods in order to save Ceres." she said, as she put a finger to her chin.
"He told me that never happened..." I responded, I could feel my hands tighten into fists.
"It still intrigues me that, that family has made such a strong impression on you, that your mind created a figure for you to grow attached to. When we first told you about them, you kept digging into their past, as if that was your life source." she said. Her face went pale as she glanced at my eyes, making eye contact... I guess I could only leave my expression to you to imagine... to this day, I don't even understand what face I had made towards her.
