Phoebe Carisi was over being a hero. Trained at a young age and doing the business for as long as she could remember, the sophomore had seen more than her fair share of bad guys. But she knew better than anyone else that she couldn't just stop; she had a job to do.
Having moved from her training base in San Fransisco to New York to live with her father J. Jonah Jameson, she had quickly acquainted herself to the east coast version of her old home turf with its own villains, reporters, and other heroes. The only difference was she was in control of what she did and didn't do. Not the staff, not the monitors, not her other teammates. She was riding solo.
Living a double life wasn't easy, especially when her own father wrote degrading articles about her nightlife persona. However, she didn't have it all that easy during the day, having to hide her relation to her father for her own safety and nursing a crush on one of his reporters, not to mention trying to keep up with the over-achieving freshman in her biology class who was too smart for his own good.
But her life gets even more difficult the second the Spider-Man shows up. With his loud mouth and tendency to make more trouble than stop it, Phoebe is instantly put off. He was too idealistic, too eager to fight. So sure of himself, as if he knew exactly who he was.
Over time, as she starts to grow closer to the Spider-Man and find a place in the tornado that was her father's life, Phoebe starts to notice things from her past, people that she had long since tried to forget.
As she uncovers more about her past life and the death of her mother, Phoebe tries to learn more about herself, searching for herself beneath all the other identities, the ones created around scientists and safety precautions and attractive reporters. She searched for the person that had been buried alive. Because, after all this time, she finally wanted out.
