Esme had given me the pajamas and after I showered, I went back into the fancy room they'd decorated for me. I couldn't believe the amount of time and effort they put into it. My own family wouldn't have done that for me. I shuffled across the room to the big window and looked out at the forest. Other than Seth, it was the prettiest sight I'd seen here so far.
"Hey, Vae. How are you holding up?" Seth walked in, closing the door as he entered, and my eyes darted to his reflection in the window. I turned to face him and my hair color changed to pink all over again. I shrugged at him.
"I'm good." He nodded, looking around my room. I don't think either of us knew what to say to one another.
"That's good. I came in here because I wanted to ask you something." Seth started to play with his fingers and I could tell he was nervous. I took a seat on the bed and waited for Seth to continue. "Can I sit?" He asked. I nodded and he sat next to me, our knees brushing one another.
"What did you want to ask?" I spoke because he seemed like he needed to have permission to ask. He looked at me with his beautiful and boyish smile and spoke.
"So, tomorrow, the elders of our tribe are telling legends at a bonfire. It's a monthly thing we do on the rez, but I want to know if you wanna come. It's not until seven, so you'll have plenty of time to go shopping with Alice and Rosalie." He said. I thought about it for a second. Seth wanted me to go and experience his culture and learn about his ancestors. This is like the most important thing ever. Right along with meeting the parents. I smiled at him.
"Of course I'll go. Thank you. Are you coming with us? To shop, I mean. You might not be into it, but I don't know. I thought you might want to come." I asked. He smiled at my invitation.
"I'd love to, but I don't think Alice and Rosalie would like that much. We can ask in the morning." He said. I nodded and then it was silent. I started to ask him something else, but stopped myself. "Go ahead and ask."
"Can I see your wolf?" I asked quietly. Seth's breath hitched.
"Uh, I don't know. I don't want to scare you." He said. I shook my head.
"I know you wouldn't hurt me. I don't have anything to be afraid of." I told him. He smiled.
"Okay, then tomorrow." He said.
"Can...can you stay with me? Tonight?" I asked quietly. Seth looked at me hesitantly. "It's okay if you don't want to, that was kind of soon." I mumbled.
"Oh, no. I don't have a problem with staying, but I just...are you sure you want me to?" He asked softly. I nodded, not trusting my own voice. I crawled to the head of the bed and got under covers while Seth turned the lights off. Seconds later, I felt him climb in the bed beside me. We didn't dare move. I suppose Seth didn't move because he was new at this, like myself. He probably thought it was weird, sleeping in the same bed as a girl he barely knows. I didn't move because this was the closest I'd ever been to a boy. Or, anyone actually. I'd never been alone with anyone of the opposite gender before. I'm literally freaking out. Oh my God! I slowly turned to lay on my left side, facing the door rather than Seth. My heart was beating ten thousand miles a second and my breathing was slow, shaky. Seth turned slowly, I have no clue which way, seeing as it was pitch black in my room. I felt his arm come around my waist and lay on me loosely. I bit my lip to keep from squealing and then took a risk. I decided to move closer and Seth took this as an opportunity to tighten his grip. I relaxed in his arms.
"Seth?" I whispered. I could feel his heart beat faster than mine, if it were possible.
"Yes?" His breath whispered across my neck, I shivered.
