"Leilani! Get dressed!" My mom yelled.
I looked in the mirror as I still was giving my hair more volume with my comb.
I slipped on my uniform and these ugly ass church shoes.
I finally made my way downstairs.
"Bout time shit." My brother mumbled.

Demetrius got on my damn nerves.
"Why is your hair like that lei? You need to flat iron it." My mother said.
She knew I was tired of that shit. I'm natural and I don't have time for heat damage.
"Bye." I got up placing my plate in the sink. "Unlock the door Demetrius." I walked outside.

"Ugh another day in this hell hole." My brother pulled into a parking spot.
We transferred schools last semester because of my mother's new job.
We went to a private school in buck head and I fucking hated it.
Don't get me wrong I had all AP classes at my public high school but private schools were too fucking bougie for me.
"Damn Daniel, back at it again with the Afro."
I turned around hearing what the boy said making his friends laugh.
"Damn, your as pale as the bottom of my white vans I have at home." I shit back.
Yeah that shut his ass up.
Did I mention this was mostly a white private school.
