Song of the chapter arms by Christina Perri

It's been three months. Three months that is like dying in hell.

I had just been taken advantage of for the 5th time this week, at least I got a new sheet as an excuse as a 'bed'. My mind wanders to think what would have happened if I had a ride home from work that night? what if I was paying more attention or had my pepper spray with me. I turn my head to the side, wincing at the freshly ripped out hair spot presses up against the concrete floor. I'm in a basement some place. I could be in Ireland still maybe. I just kind of gave up on escaping. But something on the floor catches my eye. I realize it's a pile of 'new' clothes. They are no where near new but compared the the pair of men's boxers and an old tank top I had from other times I got 'new' clothes, they were new enough.

I painfully crawled over to the clothes, whimpering in pain from inbetween my legs. I finally reached the clothes like 10 minutes later. I discovered it was an old black T shirt with the sleeves ripped off and a pair of men's cu off jeans. Good enough for me I guess. I carefully pulled the shirt on, followed by the old jeans. Something hard fell out of the jeans, startling me. I picked it up, but the room was so freaking dark, I couldn't tell what it was. I crawled back to my 'bed' under the window that was up way high to the celling and was also barred. The moon shining through the window helped me see what it was. It was a Swiss Army knife. I examined it to see that it had a little screw driver. This could be my ticket out! I though, I quickly shoved it in the dark corner under my sheet when I heard the heavy footsteps clomping down the old stairs. I just had to wait for a chance.

About two weeks later I heard the unlocking and unlatching of the solid door that held me captive. "I'm leaving for the night." Jack, my kiddnaper/ abuser gruffly said. I don't know why he was telling me this I thought "here's your food for the week probably." he threw a small chunk of bread at me. i couldn't, nor did I want to see his face right now so I just looked at my lap as I sat leaning against the wall. "And don't try to kill your self while I'm gone. You worthless slut." The insult didn't hurt as bad as it did the first ten time. I had just accepted that it must be true. with that the door slammed shut, the the feet going up with stair case, the front door slamming shut and a car out side. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. Here is my chance. I slowly stood up carefully and picked up the tool. I think I can pull my self up the the window ledge.

Many, many try's later I was seated carefully on the ledge with my knife. One by one I unscrewed the screws holding bars in. It took forever with the tiny screwdriver but I finally got all of the undone and carefully dropped down onto the sheet so it wouldn't make a loud noise on the floor. One of jacks mate could still be in the house. I slowly pushed open the window. It wouldn't go very far but it was enough I looked out to see it about about a four foot drop. It may not seem like much but if you hadn't eaten real food and had been thrown around like a rag doll for the past 3 months, you would worry about your knees giving out too. I carefully slid down and out. Landing in the grass with a soft thud. Before Looking around to see where I was I looked at the house to see a light was on in one of the rooms and there was movement. I had to get out fast. I stayed in the shadow along the house to see what street I was on. I was in a bad neighbor hood. But It wasn't any bad neighbor hood it was the one that was about four blocks away from the Horan's house! I winced with ever step I took but it didn't matter. I could do it.

I could see the gold number on the side of the house. I almost made it. I thought I was going to die. Or collapse. But I didn't. I made it to the door. Gripping on the the railing so tightly, it could break. I don't even remember ringing the door bell but as soon as Maura opened the door I was more awake "a-ally? oh my god!" She went wide eyes "bobby! Get down here!" I heard before every thing went black.
