Chapter Ten

Toni POV

Man last night was crazy , but I'm just happy the girls got everything off their chest . I don't have a problem helping the girls , but we just gotta do things the right way . I'm not Tryna go to jail for helping them out . I woke up and went straight take my shower and brush my teeth . After I was done I headed downstairs. As I walked I smelled food . Lord , who is cooking and what is it they cooking . Whatever it is it smell good as hell. When I got in the kitchen the girls had then cooked a big Ass meal .

" Damn , who in here burning like that ?" I asked gaining both the girls attention.

" Well we both had a part of it really. " Baby girl said.

" What's the occasion ?" I asked. 

" Well, we both just wanted to show you our appreciation for letting us stay here until we get on our feet. So we took a chance and walked to that Lil store around the way . "

" Damn , y'all didn't have to do all this . " I said. 

It was good that the girls wanted to show they appreciation and all , but damn this was a lot of food . I wasn't complaining though . Plus I know how how much they can eat so at least it won't go to waist. They had Macaroni, rice dressing, potato salad, pork and beans , baked chicken, red velvet cake , yellow cake with chocolate icing , pecan pie , corn bread muffins , and Mimi was taking some strawberry turnovers out the oven . I ain't gone lie that Shit was looking and smelling good and I couldn't wait to start eating .

" It's no biggy , I love to cook and Mimi loves to bake." Baby girl said .

" I can see that ." I said .

Once everything was cooked Titi told me to go in the front room. When I walked in the front room I seen they had Netflix on and the remote on the arm of my chair. They had a card on the table with my name on it. I sat in my chair and opened it.

Thank you so much for letting us stay here. Not alot of people would be willing to take in two girls with all the problems we have. We can't say thank you enough Toni. You really saved both of our lives and we will forever be thankful.

After I read the card the girls was coming in the living room with some food on some trays. They placed my food in front of me then Mimi went back in the kitchen to get her tray. Once she came back we said grace over our food and started eating.

" Pick a movie ." Mimi said.

" Nah , one of y'all can. " I said with my head still down looking at my food.

" Well, what kind of movie are we gonna watch ?" Baby girl asked.

" Don't matter to me. " I said.

The girls picked a movie and pressed play , but my head never came up from my plate. Baby girl did her thing with food now it's time to see how Mimi did with the stuff she baked. 

" Okay , as we all can tell TiTi did her thing with the food . Now it's time for y'all to taste your girl desserts. " Mimi said as they picked up the trays and headed back to the kitchen. A few minutes later they came back in the front room with trays . This time with the desserts. When Baby girl put my tray down I swear I could have dove head first . Mimi went back into the kitchen to get he tray. When she say down we all began eating.

" Oh , wait I forgot the ice cream. " Mimi said as she jumped out of her seat and headed to the kitchen. She came back with a half gallon of vanilla ice cream and scooped us all some next to our cake. Man these girls were gonna get me fat if they keep this up . I ate my desserts with my ice cream as we all watched TV.

" Well, what y'all think ? " Mimi asked.

" It's delicious friend. " Baby girl said still eating her corn bread muffins with her ice cream.

" You do your thing with this one Mimi. I can get used to this. " I said laughing.

" Awwe , thanks you guys . " Mimi said with a big smile on her face.

" Man I'm so full I could bust right now." Baby girl said.

" I know right , y'all gone get me fat cooking like that." I said making them laugh.

" Well at least I know my mama taught me something." Baby girl said.

" Well, she did an amazing job. " I said.

" I agree friend. " Mimi said.

" Where did you learn to bake like that Mimi?" I asked.

" I used to always watch my daddy bake. He lived to bake. We used to always bake stuff and I began to love it as well so he showed me everything he learned from school. " Mimi said.

" That's what's up. He did great too." I said.

" Thanks. That's what I wanna go to college for. I Plan on owning my own shop one day." Mimi said.

" That's what's up friend. You got that." Baby girl said.

" Yeah and speaking about school. Shouldn't you ladies be switching your schools to a school out here? ". I asked.

" Yeah we are gonna do that Monday morning. Don't wanna get behind . It's our senior year. " Baby girl said as Mimi agreed.

" Okay , cool. What are y'all doing for graduation ?" I asked.

" Didn't really plan anything." Baby girl said.

" Why not , y'all are graduating high school. That's a big step. " I said.

" Yeah I know, but with my situation I knew my dad wouldn't do anything for me so I just said to hell with it." Baby girl said.

" Yeah me too. I knew my mother wasn't having it. Maybe if my father was still alive , but he's not so that's out the window. " Mimi said.

" That ain't cool." I said.

Ain't no way in hell was I gonna let the girls graduate and not celebrate it. Ima do something for them , but it's gonna be a surprise for the both of them.
