"Katnissssss," Johanna whined as she followed Katniss through the library book aisles. She turned around and shushed her.
"We are in a library, Johanna. Shut up," she muttered, clearly annoyed by her friend's whining.
"You're so hostile, Brainless," Johanna chuckled teasingly, leaning back against the shelf next to her.
"If you don't like it, don't make me be," she said as she picked up a botany textbook. She skimmed over the pages. They were sophomores in college, and because she was there on a scholarship, Katniss took her education seriously. She never missed a lecture, and she spent her free time either studying or talking to her family who lived across the country. "Why don't you go bother Annie or something?" Katniss suggested, her eyes not leaving the book.
"Annie's with Finnick somewhere. Trust me, if I knew where, that's where I would be. You're so boring. We've been here for like, three hours," Johanna complained, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Nearly fifteen minutes," she corrected her, closing the textbook and placing it under her arm before resuming her stroll through the aisles.
"Well you're so lame, it feels like it's been three hours," she later said. Katniss rolled her eyes in response. "What you need is a good party," Johanna continued. "The Kappas are throwing one tomorrow night. You should come with me and Annie."
"I have to study-"
"No, you don't. You study everyday. You study so much you have no social life," she moved to walk alongside her. Katniss glanced over at her.
"Unlike you, I'm here on a-"
"Forty thousand dollar scholarship and I can't afford to lose that money, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, we got that, Loser. That's your excuse for everything," Johanna waved her off. "You need to get a better excuse."
Katniss scowled. How dare she mock her. "Johanna, I'm not going to a party, especially a frat party-"
"But the frat brothers are cute as everything, Kat. You may find you someone," she shrugged. A relationship was the last thing Katniss wanted. It wasn't that she couldn't handle one, but she had heard stories about those college boys; immature, douches who will use you and be on their way. She personally hadn't experienced one though. That was just on the accounts she heard while sitting behind a group of girls in her biology course.
"I'm not going," she said after awhile, walking towards the checkout desk to checkout the textbook. Johanna followed her.
"Yes, you are. Even if Annie and I both have to drag you out of your dorm," she argued as Katniss handed her book to the older woman behind the desk and got out her library card.
"What makes you think Annie will help you?" The librarian scanned her card and handed it back to her along with the textbook.
"Because Annie is on the same boat with me," she replied as they began to walk out of the on campus library. "We both agree that you're an antisocial introvert that doesn't do anything...or anyone-"
"Johanna!" Katniss hissed, her face heating up. She wasn't lying though. Johanna laughed loudly as they exited the library.
"You are so pure, Brainless," she chuckled, throwing her arm over Katniss' shoulders. Katniss removed her arm casually.
"I'm not," she muttered, keeping her eyes straight ahead and not making eye contact.
"When was the last time you slept with someone?"
"I've never-"
"Bingo! You've never slept with someone, therefore, you're pure," she explained, and Katniss didn't say anything. "You're definitely coming to that party now."
