Misty Waterflower sat quietly on the bench gazing towards the floor. It was chilling outside, but inside the Home, it was warm enough to do without a jacket. She stared at the old heater installed in the corner of the room and then averted her viridian eyes to her fingers. They were red and blue from cold. Rubbing the palms of her hands against each other, she blew warm air over them.

"Misty", she heard a elderly male voice call out at me. A shiver ran down her spine. Finally, it was the time. She hopped off the wooden bench and walked towards the Reception Room. Misty was well aware of the fact that her stay here was temporary, she had come here to going away some day, but she did not want to go away. This place made me feel comfortable.

Her numb fingers twisted the cold door knob open. "You have to go tomorrow ", he spoke as she stepped inside the room, nodding his head lightly. His stern eyes looking directly at her.

"Yes sir. Thank you", Misty said and bowed, closing the door behind her as she left the room. Misty trudged towards the girls quarters, which was the bedroom for her and many other girls just like her. The ones who wanted to something for their family, the ones who wanted to aid in the family income.

Misty walked silently towards her bed, not greeting any of the girls like she usually did. She removed her red suitcase from under the hard bed, and started packing her everyday essentials up. After she was done packing, Misty gazed at her zipped up bag and then decided to select her clothes for the next day too.

She pulled out a pink tee and black pants along with the black thin jacket. Having done all her chores for the day, Misty laid down on the bed without talking to anyone, staring the ceiling with blank, expressionless eyes. She thought of her life, all these years.

Her parents worked at the Ketchum's, the richest businessman in Kanto, who lived in the city of Pallet, North. While Misty lived in a small village on Northern Hills with her grandparents, trying to finish her basic schooling in the local school.

Even with poverty everything in Misty's life was going on good, but things turned upside down one day. Misty's parent's were declared dead after a bus accident on the highway when they were retreating back home for vacations. Misty's grandfather was a drunkard, and she could not be depend upon him for her life. Even her sick grandmother had to be treated. She needed money.

Seeing the financial condition of the house, sixteen year old Misty thought to give up studies and start working.

But who would give her work? She couldn't work in the village itself, the money would not be enough to make a living. Her grandmother's medicines were expensive and it would be difficult to accommodate them in the small income she would earn back at the village.

After searching for good job options in the cities for a month, Misty decided of joining the company which provided servants for domestic help. The students there were taught to cook, sweep and other household chores which butlers performed. Once she was properly trained, the company would provide her to a wealthy house for doing their work as a lady-in-waiting.

Misty hated the idea of being someone's slave, but keeping in mind about her sick grandmother, she forced herself to do it. She had no other option. Misty was determined to be her family's support, she would sacrifice anything for her remaining family, which now only had her grandma.

A year had passed training in the Domestic Help Center, and she was seventeen now.

Misty stared at the uneven ceiling. She could still hear the chirping and giggling of other girls ringing in her ears. Even they, like her, had been forced to join this company, due to financial problems.

"Heaven knows which house I'll be going to", she thought, "I hope the people are nice". As she was thinking about all these things, her eyelids became heavy, and slowly sleep took over her.

"This is the house?!", Misty mused gapinh at grand palace in front of which she was standing, awestruck beyond measure.

"It surely is ", said the Company's Nanny, Madam Marguerite, slightly smiling at Misty's awed expressions. Marguerite had come to drop Misty to the mansion, where she would work now and also live.

"Now! Remember your lessons, be polite, speak the much is needed, don't look up while talking, and obey the owners and their friends", the Madam Marguerite reminded her.

"Okay", Misty replied smiling and waved as the nanny left, who gave her a small farewell smile back.

Misty let out a small sigh.

She pushed the grand iron gates and stepped inside. The place was indeed a palace. Small sized water fountains were placed on either side of the path. The area surrounding the path was lush green due to the short grasses covering it. There were flower beds at regular intervals. The place was so beautiful. Just like a princess' place.

As she reached the main door of the house, a guard stopped her. "What do you want?", he asked and looked at her sharply and intimidatingly.

Misty suddenly felt herself at loss of words as her nervousness suddenly kicked in. Gathering the floating words in her mind she stuttered out,"New... Servant"

"You should have the ID", he commanded, intentionally being oblivious to her nervousness.

Misty gazed at him for a second before nodding and digging in her black handbag for  company's ID. She smiled once she found it, she handed it over to him.

"Misty Waterflower", he read her name, and then looked at the photo on the Identity card and tallied it with the girl in front with his keen shrewd eyes. Once he was sure it was not an intruder, he spoke, "Okay get inside. Just wait in the outside lobby, don't try to go inside or upstairs "

Misty nodded lightly and spoke,"Yes Sir". The guards moved away and open the main door to the house.

Misty took in a deep breath before getting inside. Just as she was about to step in, she read the name plate which was on the door. It said : "Mr & Mrs Robin Ketchum"
