TAINTED SOULS
We were young and impressionable when they took us
As malleable as metal we were, their plans a success
True, our families tried their best searching
But it was years late when they found us
Watching friends die does a lot to your soul
That was how they changed us
If you are weak you're as good as dead
And so our innocent souls were tainted
They made us mercenaries for their cause
Soldiers without a conscience
They say sacrifices needed to be made
But why must it be at the cost of our families
Years later they found us, howbeit too far gone
How do we integrate with a world we were plucked from
We became poison to those whom were once family
Because our tainted souls have already been sold
They decided to put us down like the rabid dogs we became
Why were we rescued in the first place
Only to be ripped from those happy to have us back
Well, it's not like being back brought them much joy
At the stand of execution, we began to wonder
Why didn't we escape them when we became the hunted
Was is because we felt that was the only way
And we saw redemption on the other side
