BATTLE SCARS
They decorate my body like tattoos
You look at me once and you're disgusted
Your dirty looks ain't enough to give me the blues
so much worse than I have been throughYou see me once, you want to be friends
One look at them you're running for the hills
Forgetting your initial intentions of companionship
It's sad, you'll never know how loyal I can beThey decorate my skin like coloured ink
If only you'll look closer
And see the beauty I radiate from within
Even the little disfigurations I see as artYou don't know my story, hence, I place no blame
They have become a part of me I consider them beautiful
Scoff all you want, but they remind me of victory
Victory of battles I fought and you may not have survivedThey remind me of my strength every day
So when I think I am too weak to go on
I look at them and I remember the strong warrior I was
They will forever be my badges of honour
