It worked! Nobody suspects anything. I think I have 15 minutes before I need to be in the woods. I'm at the bank of the river writing my last entry. Dark blue and chilly, the river glides along smoothly towards where the moon sets. I left a note on the door of the cabin I share with Mama, Sarah, and Sarah's family. The note tells them that I love them all and why I left. I also wrote for them to burn it when they're done reading it. I hope to see them again someday. And hopefully slavery will end soon, and when it does I'll find them. If you find this, please remember that you are in charge of your life. You are the cat, not the mouse. Also, please put this back where you originally found it (the hole in the tree at the river bank) so that someone else can read it. Or better yet, have it published. It's time for me to go and make my way into a new life. No matter what I come across I have hope that I'll prevail. So remember me, Emile Lockery, the girl who escaped slavery and became free.
