We were walking Carl was in front of me and rick I was in the back I could tell he was really hurt from not knowing if Judith was alive or not so he was speed walking ahead of us and we kept walking I thought about where we were gonna go would we find some where safe and stay there or would we go and find the others find veronica and beth carl started to speed up “carl” rick said “slow down” he sounded awful like he broke a couple ribs and it hurt to breath and he kinda sounded like batman his clothes were ripped his eye got punched out and he was shot in the leg he kept walking he didn’t stop “carl stop” he shouted that last word which made flinch he stopped “we need to stay together we gotta find a place to stay food supplies” he paused “hey everything gonna be” he stopped I knew he was gonna say fine but carl gave him one of those looks like don’t tell me that and he walked off again I jogged up to carl and I reached for his hand and he pulled it away he looked at me “whats wrong” I asked he looked away “I’m not in the mood” he said I nodded and we continued walking eventually we came upon a restaurant we stopped in front of the door “stay out here keep watch I’ll be back” rick said weezing as he breathed in “I’m not gonna let you go in there alone” carl said “I can wait out here” I said “you to go in I’ll wait out here if anything happens I’ll call for you” I said carl shook his head “I cant let you do that what if something happenes” “ill be fine trust me just go” he kissed me on the head “be safe” he said and he walked off with his dad and into the store after a few minuets of standing I sat down on the stairs a few seconds later I heard banging it scared me so I jumped then I heard a gun shot from inside I decided to ignore it they were probably just taking out walkers I started to relax then I relized how tired I was I leaned me head aginst the railing and I started to drift off into sleep when I heard another gun shot but this time it wasn’t inside it came from outside and it hit me I felt an immense pain in my shoulder I looked up and I saw someone I recognized it was one of the governors people that got out “carl” i screamed blood was seeping through my shirt I heard foot steps “annabel are you ok who did this to you” carl asked with my little strenth I had left I pointed to the guy who was still standing there looking at me he looked up and the last thing I heard was a gun shot and I let the darkness ingulf my vision then I felt someone pick me up
I woke up on a bed I started to get up and I felt pain in my left shoulder and I looked over to my side and I saw carl sitting reading a book next to me “c-carl” my voice cracked “hey sleeping beauty how you feeling” he asked I sat up in bed and leaned aginst the wall “like shit” I choked out “w-wat happened” I asked “you were shot and you passed out and we found this place after we left” he explained I started to cry but not because I was hurt but because I missed everyone but most of all veronica I just wanted it to go back to the way it was at the prison I wanna fall asleep in carls arms every night knowing I was gonna be safe and everyone was alive I scooted over to carl and hugged him I cried into his shoulder “ I know I know it’s gonna be ok we will find some where safe” he understood what I was feeling I didn’t even need to say anything I lookeed up and sniffed wiping the tears off my face “ how long was I out” I asked “a day” he said loooking at me “im sorry” I said looking at my feet “sorry for what” he asked “staying outside and not going in with you and rick and losing the prison” he lifted my head so my brown eyes met his deep blue ones “hey” he said none of that is your fault none of it if anything it’s my dads for not killing him earlier” he said I shook my head “no don’t say that don’t blame him it wasn’t his fault either” I said “it’s the governors fault he wanted revenge he wanted to kill all of us I think even if we left and did what he said we would still be in this situation everyone would still be split up and I would still be shot and we would be sitting here talking to you so don’t blame it one your dad ok” I said he kissed me he didn’t say anything he just kissed me he didn’t need to say anything our lips parted “thanks” he said “and you right he just wanted to kill us” he said “its late we should get some sleep” I said looking out the window noticing how dark it was “yea” he said we layed down carls arms wrapped around my waist then started singing
