Melody's POV
Today is the day of their funeral, I don't know if I mentioned this but Jason, my childhood best friend.
Well his parents past away a week or two ago and today is the first time in nearly 8 years that I get to see Jason, I'm nervous and excited at the same time.
I only vaguely remember Jason but from what I can remember he must've meant a lot to me, I sometimes remember how sad I was when I saw him driving away.
"sweetheart?" I heard my mother's voice from the other side of my bedroom door "are you ready to go?" "I'll be down in 5 minutes" I sighed as I took one last look at myself in my body length mirror "here goes nothing" I whispered as I walked out of my bedroom and into the living room "ready" I said to both of my parents before we each climbed in the car and started driving to the cemetery.
When we arrived I climbed out of the car and made my way toward where everybody else was I saw the coffins and a small tear slipped from my left eye as I placed my hand on the coffin that had his mothers picture on it "I'll never forget your beautiful smile" I thought to myself as a few more tears slipped out, I laid the red rose down and kissed my finger tips then placed them on the coffin before walking over to his dads coffin and repeating the same thing.
As I was about to walk away I turned and noticed a dark haired boy wearing a black suit for some reason he looked awfully familiar but I just brushed of the feeling and walked over to where my parents were, my parents had already paid there respects and were sitting down.
As I sat down my mother got up from her chair and walked over to the dark haired boy wrapping her arms around him as they both started to cry together, I still had no idea who he was.
"Mel, come with me dear, there's someone I want you to meet" my father said as he stood up and started walking over to where my mother was my mother and the boy turned to me and he looked like he was shocked to see me.
"Melody, do you remember who this is?" my mother asked, I tried so hard to remember but I just couldn't seem to wrap my head around who he was "who is this kid?" I thought to myself "I'm sorry, but no" I said in an apologetic tone.
My mother was about to speak but the boy cut her off "don't be, I wouldn't expect you too" he said with a very weak smile "my name is Jason, Jason McCann" I couldn't believe my ears or my eyes, could it really be him? "I..I" I stuttered out it'd be safe to say I was completely and utterly speechless.
"We'll leave you two alone, I'm sure you've got a lot of catching up to do." my mother stated as she dragged my father away with her "I'm so sorry" I said nervously "I just can't believe it's you" he smiled as he replied with "I can't believe it's you either Mel, how have you been?" "I've been alright I suppose, how are you? I'm so sorry about your parents." I said sympathetically.
"Don't be everything happens for a reason, right?" "right" I replied with a small smile "if you don't mind me asking, how did it happen?" he looked down "why ask such a thing Mel, you idiot?!" "I'm so sorry" I quickly said "I shouldn't have asked that".
"No it's fine" he replied "what do you say I grab your number and we'll catch up tomorrow because I've gotta run?" I smiled and said "sure, that sounds good" before grabbing out my phone and giving it to him to punch in his number as he did the same "and done" I said handing his phone back "cool, I'll text you later." he replied handing my phone back "nice to see you again Mel" "you too Jase" I said with a smile.
Jason's POV
I really wish I could've stayed and talked with Mel a little longer but of course, their was things that needed to be done in order to keep my gang stable.
Yes I'm in a gang and no I don't know how I'm going to tell Mel, she'll probably stop talking to me and that's a risk I don't want to take.
I climbed in my car and started driving to the gang's hideout which was in the middle of the forest, when I pulled up I was greeted by Ryan and Chaz.
Ryan looked at me with a weird look on his face then asked "why the bubbly face?" I looked at him then smiled "no reason apart from the fact that I just saw my childhood best friend and got her number" I said emphasizing the word 'and' Ryan looked a little confused so did Chaz "I thought we were your childhood best friend's?" Chaz asked "yes you guys are but she was my best friend in Atlanta" I answered walking into the house and grabbing a beer out of the fridge.
"So who is she?" Ryan asked sitting on the counter top "her name is Melody Love and she is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life!" I answered smiling "sounds like someone has a crush" Chaz teased nudging my shoulder, I laughed at him then walked into the living room plopping myself down on the black leather couch and flicking the TV on watching some Family Guy.
Melody's POV
When we arrived at home I ran straight to my room and threw myself on my bed pulling my phone out of my handbag and texting Jason.
Hey, Jason. Melody here, I'm just texting to make sure you gave me the right number. I know it sounds stupid but I've had people give me the wrong number before. -Melody
I jumped up off the bed checking my phone for the time first, it read 7:58.
I placed my phone down on the bedside table then ran into the bathroom peeling my clothes off my body before running myself a nice hot shower, I climbed in the shower and washed my hair with the vanilla scented shampoo and conditioner then washing my body and shaving. You know, the usual routine girls do in the shower.
After I finished I turned the water off and climbed out wrapping a towel around my head and one around my body, I then walked over to my draws pulling out some undergarments, shorts and a sweatshirt. I dried myself off and climbed into my clothes then jumped into bed flicking the TV on not even bothering to have dinner, I grabbed my phone off of the cupboard and saw that I had a text message.
I opened it up and it was from Jason it read,
Hey, nope. You got the right number and I understand that hah. -Jason
I quickly replied with,
Hahaha, well I'm glad. So when did you want to catch up? -Melody
I laughed as I was watching Family Guy, I loved that show. My phone went off and I opened it to a message from, of course, Jason.
How's tomorrow at 12:00? I'll pick you up? -Jason
Tomorrow sounds good, my address is 1074 West End. -Melody
I replied excited to see him, for the remainder of the night we just texted back and forth until I fell into a deep dreaming about his gorgeous face.
