akaashi noticed how some of the first flowers he had brought (y/n) were already dead or in the process of wilting, leaving curled up brown leaves and shriveled petals that had lost its luster.

"what are you reading?" the blue eyed male asked the girl, sitting next to her on the bed and attempting to get a peek at the book she held.

"oh, nothing." (y/n) smiled up at him tiredly, marking her page before closing the book.

his gaze narrowed slightly and he, once again, tried to at least get a peek at the cover. "what do you mean 'nothing'?"

she didn't answer the question and instead, went over to lay her head on his shoulder with her arms circled loosely around his neck.

the boy chuckled. "did you miss me?" he felt her head move which he could only identify as a nod.

he stayed in that position for just a little longer and she didn't make a move to pull away either.

"hey," he said softly, his voice close to a whisper. "would you like to see the flowers i brought?"

this made her pull away and akaashi found himself already missing the comforting feeling of (y/n)'s body against his.

"oh." her mouth formed a small circle. "what kind are these?" her curious and adoring eyes lingered on the spherical shaped blooms.

"globe amaranths."

and rather than just letting her read what he had written, he also spoke the words aloud, letting the contents of his heart pour into his voice.

unfading love
i will always love you even after my last breath
