I don't love you like that

*The next day*

Shay woke up when her alarm started ringing. She slammed it to the floor, put on some basic clothes and got ready. She walked into the bathroom and brushed her teeth. She looked into the mirror. She couldn't see herself walking around kissing girls. She couldn't imagine herself being gay. How would everyone react. She would probably get loads of comments like, "damn u gay?" "Lesbians get chlamydia a lot easier" "U should teach your ass that you need a guy".
She washed her toothbrush and put it back in the mug then she ran downstairs. Her mom stood in the kitchen just looking at the wash.
Shay thought about talking to her but nodded that idea and walked out of the house.
She drove off to school and parked right outside the head building. Then she walked inside the building.
She saw Ashley walking right past her not caring that Shay was there.

"Ash.. Ashley?" Shay shouted.

No answer. She walked into the first class knowing she'd have a chance talking to Ashley there. They sat down at their benches right next to each other.

"Ashley I'm so sorry."

"Not now Shay, please, not now" Ashley whispered.

Shay looked down her notebook and drawed a sad face. Ashley laughed a bit but quite unnoticeable.

"Hey everyone! In today's class, you will work in pairs. Pick your partner but no fighting guys! Cause if so I'll pick. You will be talking about feelings. Let each other speak up about whatever feeling you want to talk about. Actually, you'll get a day off, with the one you choosed. But you need to do an essay about the feeling you guys talked about. ", Ms Oakfield said.

Shay looked over at Ashley but Ashley looked away.

"No, Ashley, please we don't have to be mad at each other. Actually, that's the least most needed thing we have to be." Shay said and took Ashley's hand.

Ashley pulled her hand away and said, "Sure, we can work together."

They walked out the classroom and out from the school area. They didn't talk. Shay wanted to say something, But she didn't want any more trouble.
Then Ashley suddenly said;

"Actually Shay, I'm not mad at you."

"Yeah no you're not, you're just ignoring me in the best way possible."
Shay said and felt a bit mad.

"Shay..."

"No Ashley, I, what happened?"

"I think I just felt guilty for doing bad and.."

"You felt guilty.. Sure, fine.", Shay said.

"Well I'm not the one being gay, I'm sorry for having sympathy for you Shannon."

"'I'm not the one being gay'? Sure Ashley." Shay said, took her bag and walked away to her car.

Ashley stood there by herself. She looked around the parking lot. Lots of people being happy. Lots of pairs laughing and hugging each other. She felt the tears on her cheeks. What did she say, Why did she say it like that. Couldn't she just tell Shay she's in love with her. No. She couldn't, cause their best friends, and one shall not fall in love with their best friend.
