The Thirty Act ~
• Kyle POV •
Birds were chirping, the sky was blue and I was putting my hand on the Jaguar Xj window frame enjoying the roar of the engine and driving toward Mad apartment.
Since I couldn't sleep last night I went to the drama club first thing in the morning to ask Ivan for the day off being the strict boss he complained but agreed at last, I guess my hard work the few passing days softened his heart, after that I went to Batrik mansion, yeah mansion not house and borrowed his car, of course, I promised to return it back in one piece and one piece what he will only get.
Snickering at my good sense of humor I drove faster finally reaching my destination and parking the Jaguar but not before making the engine roar several times just for the fun of it.
I pulled my phone out and called Mad who closed the line in my face so I looked at the screen quenching my eyebrows in disbelieve, the passenger door suddenly opened and the queen seated herself comfortably putting a weird paper bag near her legs after buckling up and closing the door she looked at me saying in a duh tone: what are you waiting for? Drive.
I rolled my eyes to heaven muttering. "Good morning to you too" then drove backward entering the street. I swear I glimpsed Mad smiling but soon she erased it, pulling several locks behind her ear and texting intently on her phone.
Stealing glances at her I felt my curiosity rising, mainly for two handsome reasons : first, she didn't tell me till now where we are going when we get to Boston.
Second. Today she looked different not only her outfit but everything about her seemed slightly different, she wasn't shining like usual, though the simple white dress and waist black belt were elegant they didn't reflect her usual sharpness but gave her a peaceful look.
Besides she was wearing flat closed shoes not her trademark high heels! And what with bag and the texting? Are we in some kind of secret mission?! I wondered with myself for while then asked, not able to withhold the urge anymore.
"Who are you texting? And where are we going?!".
Without tearing her eyes from the device Mad simply answered.
' A cop and I will tell you where we are going when we get there '.
Quenching my eyebrows together I recited in high pitched voice.
"Did you just say a cop?!!".
-Yup- she chirped still texting nonstop.
"Why? Is it because of the person who is calling you? If it is, I already have someone who promised to track down the number you don't need to worry about it".
-Nup, not for that- she gave me a clipped answer and I looked at her with dissatisfaction.
"Then for what?!! Is he one of your connections bank?!".
Sighing, Mad looked at me then at the phone again, her voice weak and soft – I want him to find someone-
"Did your husband run away?" I asked smiling, darting my attention between the road and her.
Mad chuckled but her laugh held a sarcastic tinge to it and if my eyes weren't betraying me I could swear she looked kind of sad.
-Can you open the radio?! –
She suddenly piped putting her phone away, I took that as a cue to change the subject and quietly opened the radio, searching through frequencies.
"Oh, I love this song!".
