The first few classes went well, I can actually manage to understand most of it though math by far was the easiest, numbers are never complicated, they never lie, never twist and turn, they are straight forward.
But then came the break, that awkward moment when everyone knows where they are going and go about their normal day and I'm just sitting there, awkwardly enough, unable to decide whether I should go walk around or sit in class, I kept fidgeting, then I noticed the sneaky glances, yes sneaky, like they didn't want to be caught peeping, which was strange, clearly they didn't bother to be careful earlier so what changed?
"Miss.BellRose" a soft voice calls interrupting my train of thoughts "I'm Satou Fushimi" he introduces himself, a class mate of mine, I could at least tell that much"pleasure to meet you" I manage to say still puzzled as to -as rude as it might be- why he was speaking to me "I'm the class rep so if you have anything to ask you can come to me" he smiles to me, such a pretty smile too
"Kei you too should be of help to the young Miss when she needs it" he glances at the boy sitting next to me, at which point I realized I hadn't paid any attention to him at all, but the strange thing was that he didn't pay any attention to the rep, or most anyone really, I wondered what was that all about but then the rep offered to give me a tour and I couldn't resist so I went along with him "don't mind Kei he's just shy around people that's all" he sighs, I wondered if they were close
"but he's a good person" he smiled to me as he showed me around. We walk around for a while, he shows me the main areas and introduces a few faculty members, ya know basic stuff. "So how far back do you two go" I casually ask as he shows me the cafeteria and offers we sit down for lunch "come again?" he asks a bit startled I could tell, how dense does he think I am? "you and my seat neighbor Nakamura was it? " I straightforwardly state.
"ha ha" he laughs "you're quite sharp" he chuckles "but we're not particularly friends however I've known him for a few years" he smiles half heartily as he looks at his plate and plays around with the food on it, clearly I had over stepped my boundaries.
We spend the rest of the lunch time small talking and what not, he seems nice enough, the bell eventually rang and we headed back to the class, on the way there I notice the strange looks and finally asked "I've been getting strange looks ever since I came, at first I thought it was normal but it's still going on what's with that?" and he seemed a bit reluctant to answer but as I kept staring him in the eye he finally cracked up "it's not you" he began a bit stuttering "it's Kei, he sort of has a reputation so the stares are probably due to the fact that you are seated next to him" he smiled which I found strange but then again what isn't strange in this school.
The day went on normally till we came to classic literature, and as I said before I'm not THAT good at Japanese so this was a class I'll definitely FAIL, a few minutes into the class and I'm completely lost, not the ops-I-wasn't-following type, no it was more like the huh-what-just-happened type, yeah not pretty, the teacher was decent enough to ignore me due to the fact that I was new.
A few minutes later and I'm fed up with not understanding anything so I try writing down everything now and understand it later, BIG MISTAKE, I got even more lost, like that was possible! frustrated I glance at my neighbor who much to my surprise was staring out the window, like seriously? I'm suffering hell and he's just looking out the window? needless to say I was upset -though it was honestly not my place but still ya know?
A few days pass like that, even though Fushimi-kun* was nice enough to help me with my classes the idiot next table to me wouldn't even spare me a glance, so yeah I could feel him brimming with hostility and strangely nonchalance.
