Finn's pov

I was riding my bike down a rocky and dusty hill. On my way to school just to watch the football players and cheerleaders practice. Mostly there just for Millie. I parked my bike near the dusty bleachers, just enough to hide from the jocks of course.

After 10 minutes watching them practice, Simon came up to me.

"Finn, hey! I thought we were going to meet up at my house to study with the boys!" He looked confused that I was at school.

"Well uh- yeah, you know I-" i didn't want him to know I was here watching her because then he'd make fun of me like he always did.

He smirked at me, "Finn I know why you're here it's fine. You have a little crush on Millie and you always deny it." He chuckled and turned my way as if he was waiting for my reaction.

"Hush Simon. I don't like Millie, what are you even saying?" I gave him a bitch face so he wouldn't ask me about it anymore but that didn't work.

"Dude you've been crushing on this girl since the 6th grade! What do you mean you don't like her? Stop denying it or I will throw a chair at you." He playfully pushed me and I rolled my eyes as I turned red.

"Ah, you can never hide the tomato look on a white boy." He sighed as he looked up to the sky.

"Shut up!" I laughed and punched him while we were walking to the hallway.

Millie's pov

Cheer always gets me in a good mood. I love to dance and sweat as long as I'm doing something. But if I sweat and I'm just sitting doing nothing, then I don't like it. Any who, I'm the team captain which means I always have to be at every practice. I hate the jocks who always hit on me and it really bothers.

"Millie did you have fun?" Madison asks.

"Yeah sure, it's just like any other practice." I smile back at her as this football player named Gaten approaches us.

"Lookin' good, Brown." He winks at me.

I sighed and looked down because it makes me uncomfortable when guys are like that. "Whatever dude." I responded.

Maddie noticed my uneasiness so she changed the subject. "Hey party at my place tonight, bring your own beer by the way." I smiled at Maddie's ridiculousness.

"Alright yo, I'll be there!" Gaten responded as he put two fingers up to show a peace sign.

"Yay. I'm thrilled." Maddie said dully. She doesn't like Gaten, he's one of the horniest football players out there and it's good that a conceited bitch like her wouldn't like a guy like him.

I rolled my eyes and laughed at her sarcasm. The boys just walked away to go hit on the upcoming cheerleaders that are going into freshman year... I know, gross right?

Finn's pov

"Simon like I said before, this is supposed to be the most amazing year of our lives. Maybe just out of all our high school years." My face lit up with excitement as I talked about this topic once again.

"We're supposed to make some good memories and have fun!" I groaned at him so he could pay some attention to me.

Simon rolled his eyes and looked in my direction. "And we WILL, we have the photography club and video games... playing cards with the boys every Saturday. C'mon you know how much you love root beer on a Saturday night." He gave me a nudge and I smiled.

"Yeah dude but you know? I want it to be even more fun, like go to parties and stuff. I don't want to be popular and impress people, fuck that. I just want to know how it feels like to go to a damn party for one day." I stopped and held my books to my chest and smiled.

"School starts on Monday and it's Wednesday, dude. I don't think you should be worrying about stuff like this c'mon. Plus, I'm pretty sure to be invited to a party means popularity so I don't think you could get half and half, Finn." He turned to me and I look straight at him and realized he was right. I pushed my hair back with my free hand and stared straight at the ground.

"You know what Simon? For once... you're actually right." I looked back up holding my laughter back.

"You and your sarcasm, Wolfhard. Save that for Dane and Jaeden because they're the most Sarcastic amongst us four. You know that's my weakness." He took his glasses off and furrowed his eyebrows.

I kept walking because I wanted to enjoy my next four days of summer vacation at home.

"That's it right there!"

"What are you talking about?"

"If you want to be popular, you have to get yourself one of those... automobiles."

"Automobiles? Really, Simon?" I slightly turned my head to look and him and squinted my eyes. He raised his hands in defense.

"What the hell, i don't have that kind of money are you crazy?" I shook my head and buried my face in my hands.

"Relax bro, you can rent them ya know?" I looked up and he winked at me laughing away at his sarcasm.

He rode off with his bike as I turned into my driveway while my father cleaned his car.

"Hey dad, uh where's Noah?" I asked not wanting to start a real conversation cause then he'll turn it into about cars.

"He's inside, son. Probably working on homework."

I laughed knowing that's not true as I made my entrance.

"Hey Finn." My brother looked up at me with with a suspicious look on his face.

"Uh- hey dude? How was your day with your mean little friends?" I placed my arms on top of a shelf and laid my head down on them.

"Uh i don't know? How was your day crushing on the most beautiful girl in the history of this country? What was her name again, Millie Brown?" He snapped at me.

I rolled my eyes and pushed him out of my way so I could see what was in the fridge. "Oh shut up. It's Millie BOBBY Brown if ya didn't know! At least I don't like a disrespectful girl named Julia I mean what?" I snapped back at him and laughed as I saw his face get heated.

"Shut up at least she likes me back unlike Millie. Captain of the cheerleading team and the most popular girl of West Chester High." He walked away so I wouldn't reply.

I just rolled my eyes and warmed up some food. Will Millie ever like me one day? Or am I just a dumb ass waiting around for nothing. I don't know what to do, I REALLY like her and it's not a joke.
