"Leave her alone, Hatch!"

Michael's voice barely functioned due to the crackling flames, but he supposed it was better that way- seconds later, he burst into a fit of coughing.

"I see we have a visitor," Hatch snarled. "You're going to die here, just like your little inside agent!" He gestured to Miss Cecilia's body. On the other side of her bedroom door,Mara was sobbing violently, trying to kick her way out.

"Please, she's just a kid-"

"Mara Lilith is a weapon of mass destruction!" Hatch roared.

"It doesn't matter! Hatch, let her go, you're going to kill her if she stays..." Michael collapsed, more coughs convulsing through his body. He began to wonder if he'd make it out.

"What a shame," Hatch sneered. He turned to leave...

Suddenly, the tiny girl burst through the door, screaming in sync with her captor as boiling hot water shot from her hands. Hatch stumbled backwards toward Michael.

Now's my chance! Michael grabbed Hatch's legs and pulsed with energy. This sent him flailing backwards into the wall, fire consuming him as the structure collapsed...

"Michael!"

Mara was doing her best to extinguish the flames around her friend, but it was obvious that she was still terrified. Michael, struggling to stand, grabbed the small girl and jumped from the nearest window just as the building began to collapse.

Suddenly, everything Michael knew was darkness, his thoughts abandoning him...

I awoke to the sound of someone sobbing.

When I opened my eyes, a dark, peaceful room greeted me, the moon peeking through a white curtain.

In a chair next to the window, Taylor was crying.

"He's gone, Peter," she said quietly. "Mara got out, but...Michael didn't."
