Bre's POVFlashback 6 months
"Tom! Is she breathing? Oh My God, Tom please tell me she's okay!" I pace back and forth on the lawn as Tom preforms CPR on Maddie's lifeless little body. Just then I hear the sirens, they're close. They are going to save my baby, they have to. First the fire chief approaches me, then I see three EMT's running towards the deck where Tom and Maddie are. "Ma'am, can you tell me what happened?" I proceed to tell him how the events played out.
"So you really don't have any idea how long she's been in the pool?" The overweight, older gentleman asks. I shake my head frantically. "No, no I don't, It was an accident, one minute she was sitting in the same room with me, then the next minute she was gone." The Grey haired gentleman reached out and takes my hand in his and squeezes. "Yes, sweetheart I believe that, no one's blaming you." We both grow quiet as he continues to hold my hand, then I hear a strangled scream rip through the silence. At first I'm not sure who's scream it is, until I look up and see Tom holding our little girl in his arms and rocking back and forth.

--------Bre..
"Bre, What is going on with you and Tom? The last time I saw the two of you together things seemed strained." I stare at my friend for a few seconds before answering. Tears starting to fall from my eyes. "I don't know what's going on, Miranda. He says he doesn't blame me for Maddie's death but I can see it in his eyes. I know he thinks I should had been watching her more closely." Miranda reaches for the tissue box on the coffee table and hands it to me. I manage to sob out a thank you. "Bre, I don't think Tom blames you, he's lost just like you. Tom loves you so much, and I think you're pushing him away because you feel guilty, not because he's making you feel guilty." I grab my cigarette pack out of my purse that's sitting on the floor beside me. Before I can light it, Miranda gives me a disapproving look. "So you started smoking again, huh?" I flip my lighter hastily, lighting the end of the cigarette. I inhale deeply and sit back into the couch. I blow the smoke out in a fine grey line before responding to her rhetorical question. "Yes, I like smoking, it takes the edge off."
Miranda stands up and paces the room. "I can't begin to imagine what you and Tom are going through, it has to be really hard to keep a marriage together under these circumstances.." I cut her off with a non humorous laugh before she can finish her sentence. "Tom seems fine, he's continuing with life as normal, going to premiers, filming a new movie, next week he's even going to a comic Con, for Christ sake." Miranda gives me a lopsided smile. "BreAnna, what do you expect him to do? He's obviously trying to get some normalcy back into his life, maybe you should try it." "Why are you taking his side? You're supposed to be my friend!" Miranda hurries across the room and sits on the couch next to me. "Oh honey, I am your friend! That's why I'm saying this. You have shut out everyone, including your husband. Bre, if you don't stop, you'll going to lose him too."

-------Tom's POV
"I'm glad you feel comfortable enough with me to take me up on my offer." Regan says after taking her first sip of her Long Island iced tea."I just didn't want to be alone tonight, I was feeling a bit sorry for myself." Regan puts her drink down and sits back in the plush oversized chair. "Do you want to talk about it?" I shake my head and take a long drink of my ice cold Heineken. "No, darling I do not, I just want to sit here on this lovely veranda and get obscenely drunk." Regan lets out a giggle. "Well that's not going to happen unless we have some shots." She motions for our waitress and orders two shots of tequila. "Tequila huh? What the hell, let's do this." I didn't want to tell her I was quite the light weight when it came to tequila.
Three Heineken's and four shots later, I was feeling no pain, I was actually feeling pretty damn good for once. From the looks of things, Regan was feeling no pain either. "Why don't we take a bottle of tequila to go, and continue this party in my hotel room?" The biggest part of me was screaming no, but there was a small part of me that wanted to take her up on her offer. "I better not, I think I've had enough, I'm already going to wake up regretting this." She throws her head back and laughs loudly. "Oh come on! One more for the road." I let an over exaggerated groan. "Ok, One more." Regan claps her hand and orders us another round of shots. "When the waitress brings us our order, Regan grabs the drinks and lays them on the table. "These shots we're going to do a little different" I raise my eyebrows and let out a nervous laugh. Without saying a word she rubs the lemon on her neck and adds some salt. "Have you ever done a body shot?" I smile and swallow hard. "Yes, I have." Good, go for it " She puts the lemon in her mouth, peeling first. Then hands me the shot. Without hesitation, I throw the tequila back and automatically lick the salt off her neck. Then place my mouth around the lemon that is in her mouth and suck it slowly. Regan lets out a sensual moan that makes the crotch of my pants grow tight. I feel her arms wrap around my neck. I freeze and step back. "Um. I. Um better get going. Good night Regan."
