Lupe's POV
Wait for the head to drop. Then go. Stop when head comes up.
Those few words have garenteed me a meal for god only knows how long. I gave up keeping track of what day it was a long time ago. It was tough at first but after awhile I got the hang of it all. The hunting, the lifestyle, what to do and what not to do. What really helped was how my wolf guided me. Yep, I said my wolf as in indivisual. She talks to me and everything. Call me crazy but it's true. Hell, I almost peed myself when she first spoke to me.
Anyway, as of right now I'm who knows where, hunting a lone buck. This one's probably gonna feed me for days. He's huge! I see his head go down and continue my pace. Quiet footsteps, breathing slow, eyes focused. His head goes up, I pause midstep. Waiting for his head to go down again but something else catches in my nose. Shifting my gaze to find the source of the almost sickly sweet scent while still focused on my prey. But before anything can be processed into my brain, something or more specifically someone tackles the buck. From the looks of it, they seem to be drinking the blood. Gross! They're missing all the good stuff! Ugh. Wasteful.
As if they could hear me, they lifted their head and tilted their head at me in confusion. I try to scare them off by growling but nothing works. If anything it intriged them more.
"What the hell is wrong with you, kid? Run!" I growl, he stares at me in confusing and frustration before racing after me. He chases me to a creek, which I pause at. Testing it out to see if I could jump over.
"Get on your side mutt! You're breaking your own treaty!" the guy mutters rudely.
Before I had time to think of what he said, he lunged at me. I turned as quickly as I could and ran to jump the creek. Closing my eyes, I waited for impact but instead was met by soft ground catching my paws. I turn back to glare at the weird guy but he's gone.
"What crawled up his ass and died?" I thought to myself. And from there I continued my journey for a new meal. Seeing as the dick back there stole mine. Taking a deep breath to welcome my new surroundings, another scent catches in my nose. This time it's more of a welcoming one. Like a homey scent that has my wolf yearning for it. Cautiously, I follow the scent. Walking and walking until I come by something. A house. I can hear people inside, laughing and enjoying each others company. It makes me think of my parents. 8 years and I still miss them.
I miss having someone to talk to. I wonder often if I am what my mother was. It makes sense because last time I saw her, her eyes glowed. Like a glow stick. If it was any other situation I would've been amazed. I later learned it's when I let my wolf take over that my eyes glow too. But my mom had control over it. She was still human when she did it, why did I turn into a wolf?
While I was thinking, the people inside must've noticed me because their laughter died down and their focus was all on me. When I go to turn away, they race to exit the house and slowly approach me.
"Oh fuck! Hunters!" I think to myself. I growl in warning.
"Why didn't we feel it?" Said a tall, tan, built guy. That's actually a poor discription because that's how all of them look. Strong genes?
"Maybe he's a stray? Rouge?" Another guy questioned.
"Haha. Might wanna rethink that, Jared, looks like he's actually a she." Jared, the second guy, tilted his head to get a better look but once I noticed what he was doing I barked, baring my teeth, and crouched my body into a pouncing position.
"Oh shit. She didn't take kindly to you looking at her goods." the same guy who noticed my gender joked.
"Shut up, Call." Jared snapped, still cautious after my threat.
As my focus was on Jared and Call, I didn't pay much attention to the first guy when he walked into the woods. Only when he walked back did he become my main priority. This big, bulky, male was now a wolf. Much bigger than me by far, but kinda similar in structure. I circle him causiously while he just stands there watching me.
"Who are you?" echos a voice in my head. I let out a yip in surprise. "What the hell. Who are you and why are you in my head?"
"I'm Sam Uley. Alpha of the Quileute Pack. Who are you?" the other wolf, Sam replied.
"I-I don't-" before I could finish, two other wolves come racing out of the forest. How did I not come across these people before.
"Sam! Sam! We picked up something and it lead us here an-" one of the wolves, a brown rustic wolf began but stopped once he took in the scene.
"Nice going, Jake." grumbled the other wolf, he had a dark silver coat.
"Help me get her to shift." ordered Sam. Both wolves looked at the other confused. "Her? As in a girl?" asked the dark silver wolf.
"Yes. Now help." Both Jake and the 'yet to be named' wolf blocked my paths of escape. Making me crouch low in a threatening stance.
"Tell us your name." ordered Sam, once again.
"Lupe"
"Where are you from?" asked Sam again.
"I don't know." And truely I didn't. It's been awhile since I've had a place to call home. None of them lasted more than 3 months. All of them either getting raided, discovered by hunters, or just didn't suit my needs.
"Can you shift back?" Sam questioned again, damn this guy has to chill with all the questions.
"No."
"How-" before he can finish I go to lunge at the wolf that blocked the closest route to the woods. But just before I can our eyes meet and suddenly I'm being pulled into another world where nothing else exists except me and him. I feel the familiar coldness rush to my eyes, signialing my wolf taking control. But this time she seems conflicted between staying with the unknown wolf and leaving. Ultimately, she goes with escaping and finding the male later.
