"Lupe! Run!"

What was once a celebration of a young girl's birthday party, was now a massacre of the young girl's parents.

She watch in horror as her father fought relentlessly against their attackers, to no advil. His efforts were proved pointless as 2 men came to hold down her father to his knees. Another stalked closer to face her father with what looked to be a musette. The screams of her mother could be heard as she came home and noticed her husbands position. Her main focus was to somehow save her love, not even noticing her daughter hiding in the room. Something snapped in the woman that made her own child fear her. The way her lips lifted upwards into a snarl, the way her body language portrayed its self, the way her eyes glowed an electric blue. The young girl whimpered, confused and frightened. Before the girl could even comprehend what her mother was planning, the woman released a roar and pounced on one of the men that had a hold of her husband.

The man pulled out a gun from the waistband of his pants and shot multiple bullets into the raging woman. But none of then seemed to slow her down. By now, the girl had tears streaming her face. Pulling her knees closer to her body, she continued to watch her mother get shot at until a man pushed her hard into a nearby wall and the woman's frame went limb. Lupe cried for her mother to cradle her in her arms and tell her everything was gonna be alright, even if she did know she was most likely dead.

Upon hearing a thud, the girl looked at the scene ahead of her from her hiding place only to feel her whole world crash around her. But her cries were short lived as the man holding the musette called ,"find the girl."

The girl's eyes widened in fear as she scurried to find her nearest exit without being seen. Silently she got to her feet and waited until the men moved farther away from the front door. And when they did, she wasted no time to tiptoe her way towards the outside world. Unfortunately, her house was on a reserved area her parents owned. Meaning her house was surrounded by trees and wildlife. The nearest inch of civilization wasn't for another 4 miles west. But to the young girl, it was just a forest just waiting for her to get lost in.

"She's out here!" a voice shouted. The girl's head snapped to the direction of the voice and she immediately was filled with fear and adrenaline. Turning into the woods she ran. Ran as fast as her little 9 year old legs could carry her. Her mind raced to find an reasonable escape plan, one being to stop and ask who they were and why they killed her parents. She later decided that would only end in her own death. And so she continued her long and agonizing run.

Time skip

Stopping the girl figured she had lost the men by now she decided it be wise for her to take a breath by a fresh creek. She knew this area in particular very well. Her parents would take her here to play burn off her excess energy. She knew by this creek was a den that was hidden fairly well, seeing as how trees and vines covered the entrance.

As night approached, Lupe knew that she was lost beyond this point and figured her best bet at survival was to stay in the den.

Next day

Lupe was woken up by the sound of the shuffling of leaves just outside of the den she slept in. Quietly, she got up to investigate. She stealthily made her way to the source of the noise, only to find a grown doe nibbling at what the girl presumed to be the lush grass.

Stretching her limbs, she planned to go back to her house and hopefully retrieve her parents. Half hoping her parents were safe in bed and that this was all just a bad dream.

Unlike how she arrived she knew the way home. Her mother had thought of the idea of marking a nice trail from this clearing to the house seeing as how this was their hangout place. The girl made it back to the house with no difficulty. It wasn't until she walked towards the front door that she began to feel nervous. Slowly she began to open the front door. But once fully open she gasped as all hope of being a happy family again was shattered and crushed. Her parent's bodies gone, Lupe noted that the attackers probably took them to cover up the mess, and blood splattered every inch of the once clean living room. Footprints tracked blood throughout the whole house, along with the occasional bloodied handprint on the walls.

Taking in the scene before her, Lupe collapsed onto her knees. Tears watered down her face and loud wales rang out of her throat. Suddenly, Lupe completely fell to the floor as her body bent in ways they weren't suppose to. How her spine suddenly jerked in one direction only to move the other and how it extended, her elbows rearranging and adjusting itself with her knees following in suit, her neck jerking upwards as she went to cry in agonizing pain but the sound came out more as a roar that would put her mother's earlier roar to shame. From there, the pain stopped. Leaving Lupe uncoordinated and sore, but very warm.

Looking down at her hands, she doesn't see hands but paws. Furry dog like paws, except bigger. Then, she notices she's standing on not 2 feet but 4 paws. How her spine grew longer to form a tail. How she felt her once human ears on the top of her head, rotating at any sound that reached her ears. How fur now covered her body from head to toe. Lupe was now a wolf. How didn't concern her at the moment, nothing did, except survival. Survival became her number one priority that day. From then on, Lupe's human side was forgotten and in it's place was the animal instinct running on one thing and one thing only. Survival of the fittest.
