Seven years later

"Yes mom! I'll be there tomorrow say hi to dad for me okay?" "Yeah we love you! See you tomorrow! Happy 23rd!" "Tell everybody thanks for he birthday wishes!" I hang up the call and snuggle into my warm soft bed.

I lived in Virginia and now I live in New York but I decided to move back home. I missed my dogs and my parents. And my best friends.

I woke up at 7 for my flight. It was only a few hours on a plane so I wasn't upset. I grab my luggage and drive to the airport.

I finally arrive at my parents house. "Hey momma!" "Maddison! Come give your momma some sugar!" I run and give her a big hug. Then the big door opens. "I'll be damned, my baby girls home!!!" Yelled my dad. I laugh and give him a hug. "We're going to go to the beach! All of the town is going and all your childhood friends will be there!" Says my mom. "Yes that would be great!" "Go on in and get ready or whatever you girls do." Says my dad. I carry my luggage to my old room. It hasn't changed a bit.

For my beach outfit I chose a blue tie die cover dress with my white bikini under it.

We are at the beach walking across the board walk. "Nadia?" I ask. "Maddison?!" I hug her tight. "How was life in New York." "Not as glamour as tv says I'll tell you that." "Really? I would have thought you'd be livin the dream." "No I work at a coffee girl at Time magazine. It's not that great." "I see but there's some one you might remember!" She pulls me over to another girl. "Oh my god! Jenna?!" "Maddie?! What are you doing here?!" "Well New York is a ways away so it was time to move back home." "Oh I'm so happy! Happy 23!" "Awe thank you!" I hug her. "Let's go get you a beer!" "You know I've only recently started drinking beer. I usually drink wine but I can try it." "Really? Wow we have to get you a home sweet home gift!" I laugh and they bring me to the bar shack. "Laidies what can I get you-Maddison?! Butter my behind and call me a biscuit!" I laugh and smile. "Now Joey calm down its only been a few years!" "Seven!" I reach over the counter and hug him. "What can I get you laidies. On the house!" "3 home sweet home beers please!" Says Jenna. Joey turns around and reaches for the beers in the fridge.

"Three home sweet home beers at your request!" "Thanks Joey!" We all say in unison.

"Hey let's go watch the Volley ball game!" Says Nadia. "I love volley ball!" And the three of us walk over and sit on the sand.

About 30 minutes into the game we all drink our beers and lay in the sun.

Tanning is fun since I don't burn. I'm the exact opposite of my mom. "Maddie watch out!" Said Jenna. I give a confused look and scoot over until a volley ball hits my head. "Ow!" I shout and rub my head. I hear my friends laugh making me giggle.

"Sorry about that." A guy said holding out his hand for me to get up. The sun shined in my eyes but I managed to let him help me up. "Don't worry about it." And suddenly all the clouds faded in front of the sun. And my heart stopped.

"L-Luke?" "Maddison?" He seemed confused. "Been a long time." He said. "Seven years." "You've changed a lot." "A lot can happen in seven years." "What are you doing back in town." "I just missed home. But I forgot what I left behind." I said looking down. "I'm sorry." He said. I could hear the sorrow in his voice like he's been sorry for a long time. "You know I came every day for a month and every week for a year!" I say a little angry and sad. "I know. And I can't forgive myself. But you always talked about going traveling. I couldn't have you come in and stop that dream." "Luke. I would've waited for you to come out of jail. But you decided to break me instead." Tears stung my eyes. "Maddie... I didn't know I broke you.."
"Well you did so that's that." "Give me another chance please?" "You had your shot. But you waisted it." "I wanted you to see the world like you always wanted too." "Luke, I didn't want to just see the world I wanted to see it with you. And if I had to wait years then that's what I would have did." "Maddie I didn't know that." "I have to go."
