The other Avengers jogged over, and Stark moved to find the door. "It's here," he said, and pushed his hand onto what seemed like the doorknob. It blipped. Access denied, it said in a robotic voice. Stark punched his hand in again. It repeated the message.
"Anybody else want to try?" He asked. Thor stepped forward with Mjolnir, wound up and flung it at the door. It bounced off with a resounding crash and flew back to his hand. Cap tried the shield. It got further than Mjolnir, but was still unsuccessful. "I can try something, but it probably won't work either," I said. I pulled a spider shaped mechanical device and attached it to the center of the door. I punched a code in and it stretched long skinny legs outwards, attaching themselves to the outer edge of the door.
The edges glowed and it fell inwards. Inside, the bunker was visible and it was silent. Almost eerily quiet. I raised my gun and advanced, the other Avengers following closely. "Romanoff! Don't step there!" Stark shouted behind me. Too late, I stepped. Only a few feet in front of me, a line of hidden explosives detonated. Cap jumped in front of me, knocking me backwards with his shield. I flew backwards, twisting in the air and landing on my feet. Cap got up and shook himself off. "A line of explosives? I thought Loki was beyond that level of petty devices," Stark said.
"I am," said a voice from behind the smoke. "I simply used it as a distraction to mask my glorious entrance. Welcome, Avengers. You have found my humble abode. Please, make yourself at home." Loki stepped out and stood in front of us. "Ah, hello, Captain, Romanoff," he said, acknowledging us each in turn. "I believe I've brought a friend of yours. Or, in your case, Romanoff, a previous lover." Another figure took form in the smoke and took its place next to Loki. I saw the mask, the metal arm, and the longer hair.
The Winter Soldier. Or, as I knew him, Bucky. He was holding the grenade launcher he'd fought us with a few days ago. "Winter, how would you like to take our...friends...to their rooms. I do believe they'll be staying there a while." Winter raised his gun. Stark lifted his arm and shot an energy blast towards him, knocking him backwards. Winter was back on his feet in seconds and he rushed at us, Loki following with his scepter. Thor threw Mjolnir, but Loki batted it aside with a ruthless gleam in his eyes.
Cap and Hawkeye were locked in combat with Loki. I was battling the oncoming agents, as they seemingly poured out of nowhere. We battled valiantly as the endless stream of oppressors continued. I chucked a few of my small disks towards the frenzy, carefully aiming them at agents. I didn't wait to see if they activated. Winter broke from the fight and chased me. He raised his gun, and I batted it aside, lunging at his throat. I gripped my fingers around it and threw him into the wall. He came back strong, and I ducked under his arms and pushed the tasers on my wristbands into his side, causing him to convulse.
Super speed kept me from getting shot several times. Due to my enhancement in the Red Room, the bullet wound in my thigh was healing at a much faster rate than most. I watched Cap get thrown back by a swing of Winter's mechanical arm. I jumped into his place and pushed aside the next hit. He raised his gun to shoot me, and I ducked and punched him with a taser. Grabbing him as I dove by, I threw him to the ground and sat on him, holding a knife to his throat. He flung me off, and I grappled with his arm, throwing him into the wall.
Loki banged his scepter on the ground and a ripple went through the fight. "Chitauri!" He roared. "Seize them!" His minions poured out of openings in the walls, swarming around us. We fought, but we were hopelessly outnumbered. Soon they had us pinned to the ground, their strange guns pointed to the back of our heads.
