I HELD A COLD rag to Sterling's head while he calmed down. The plague messed with your mind.
My ten year old brother should wreaking havoc around the penthouse like a normal kid, but he has to face the pain of this plague every day.
When I heard his breathing slow, I knew he had fallen asleep. I scooped him up and headed up the marble stairs to his room. I set him on his bed, and tucked him in. He wouldn't be waking up until tonight.
"S, we're going to make this better. Pinky promise," I whispered, even though he couldn't hear me.
"You're a good sister," I heard a voice behind me say. I just about jumped through the roof. I had forgotten that I invited Elias back to my place, and his proximity raised all the hair on my neck.
"Don't look so surprised, you asked me to come back here," Elias laughed. I rolled my eyes, pushed him out of the room and made him follow me downstairs.
"I find it interesting that you have pure running water and electricity. Many people lost that privilege a long time ago," Elias said.
"I did a little tweaking to the systems around here. Finders, keepers, remember?" I answered. There was kind of an unspoken rule around Seattle that wherever you found a place to live, you got to keep it. No one else disputed that fact due to the much needed peace around here. Elias nodded, and looked around.
"The view's pretty amazing, isn't it?" I asked, looking out the window that covered the North side of my house. I pressed my hand to the cold glass, my breath creating fog on it.
"Not as great as the one right in front of me," Elias flirted, causing me to freeze.
"Today isn't the first time you've been near me, has it?" I asked Elias, carefully gauging his reaction.
"I can't believe you've never noticed me on the same buildings. We have the same taste," Elias dragged out, as if he didn't want me to take that the wrong way.
"I don't think you're a creep, if that's what you're worried about," I teased him.
"That, my little star, is not what I'm worried about right now," He shot back.
"Then what's troubling you?" I questioned.
"I'm worried about falling," he said, confusing me. He walked to me, very close to my face.
"What does that mean?" I breathed out.
"That's for me to know and for you to find out,"
