every morning, jinyoung and i walk to school together, and every morning when we get to school, he leaves me and disappears.

"hey you." i looked back and pointed to myself as this girl is motioning me to come towards her.

"yes?" i asked, trying to be nice pretending it's not a cranky 7am in the morning.

"you're bae jinyoung's friend, right?"

"his best friend, yes."

the girl looked back to her friends, and then back at me.

"where is he?" she asked.

"not sure."

"okay well, when you see him can you tell him to text or call me?"

"okay, sure."

"thanks." she responded and we parted ways.

did she really think i was going to tell jinyoung to call her?  jinyoung is way out of her league anyway. i don't care if she's a popular, prettiest senior or miss korea, if she treats jinyoung like shit, she just might have to catch these hands. okay, but i can't fight. like at all.

i quickly walked to class and saw jinyoung waving to me, patting a chair next to him. since we don't have assigned seats in this class, jinyoung and i try to sit next to each other as much as possible.

"i saw you with yeona, did she say anything?" jinyoung asked, waiting for a response.

"she asked if i knew where you were, and i said no. that's all."

"are you sure?"

"jinyoung, i don't know why you like her so much. you're my best friend and i want the best for you, and she's not that." i faced the other way.

"then, what's the best for me?"

"me."
