"Get up sweetie."
"What" I asked confused at the fact I had just woke up. "It's your second to last week, be proud." my mom says to me while she is folding some blankets on top of my bed. "O- oh yeah, school" I say stretching out of bed. "Well do you need help finding some clothes to wear today hun?"
"Nope, nope, I am perfectly capable of getting my own thank you." I say sarcastically hoping she understood the fact that I said perfectly so she would leave me alone.
"Oh- ok well can I he-"
She cuts off while I push her out the door.
"No mother I am fine. Thank you." I say grinning through my teeth trying not to scream at her. When I push her out I immediately slam my door to get some space; then I go get my clothes out of my half broken wooden dresser. I grab out a baby blue t-shirt and skinny jeans and throw them on. "Bye Cujo" I say to my dog as I walk out of my room. Cujo is my German Shepard and I tell him everything; yeah it's weird but sometimes it's all you have and Cujo listens to me.. probably because he's my dog. I walk into the kitchen to grab something to eat but of course when I open the fridge there is nothing but butter, barely any milk, and old meat that we ate probably ten million weeks ago. "Mom, we barley have anything, when are you going to go shopping?"
"Oh- um after work hunny" she says like she is scared of something.
"And the last ten times you said that... you still never do." I say calmly as I walk out of the door.
I walk to school and imminently want to go back to my bed.
"Hello dime"
"WHA- oh it's just you Brice"
"Well who did you think I was, some monster?" He laughs
"Oh you'd be surprised" I say quietly to where he could barely understand me. Then we walked to class. As I am walking it's just my luck that the perfect, pretty, princess Harlem is now stopping in front of me.
"Good morning Haven" she says happily and smirky.
"Oh well yes it is, so excited to have to sit in class all day." I say as sarcastic as possible but yet believable.
"Oh haha your ridiculous Haven, but actually I would like to invite you to my own out of school dinner party this weekend."
"Oh um I don't know I will have to Che-" I say before she cuts me off
"Oh please say yes, everyone will be there and it would just be a tragedy if you didn't come!" She says as she primps and twirls her golden hair.
I knew in that moment when she said everyone is going that if I didn't go, there would be a problem and people would be suspicious to where I was; because here everyone loves Harlem and every perfect body in this town would be there in her huge beautiful mansion and I have to blend in. So there for I didn't have a choice.
"Well are you, everyone is going?"
"Uh- yes I'll be there ha." I say with a fake smile and laugh.
"Great!" She says and walks away.
This is how my daily life goes here. I hide everyday knowing I'm alone and have to strive to blend in with the rest. Sometimes I just wish I could find somebody like me; sometimes I wish I didn't have to feel alone and lost.
I'm scared.
