Chapter One

Walking out of the office with papers in my hand I checked the time.

9:48 am

I grimaced and flipped my schedule only to find out that my classroom is the other side of the school! I groaned in response and briskly walked down the hall and into a corridor, walking towards the very last class. It was currently English period so everyone's probably present.

Checking my appearance at the reflection of the notice board that was on the wall, I re-tied my hair into a high ponytail, adjusted my white crop top and maroon skinny jeans.

Satisfied with the way I looked, I slowly walked towards the door and knocked on the door. A muffled welcome instructed me in and I could feel the butterflies in my stomach.

I slowly twisted the doorknob, pushing the door open.

As I walked in I could feel the stares on me. I was greeted by a middle-aged man wearing black pants and a checkered shirt. He looked expectantly at me and I quickly took out my transfer form.

"Alright class, this is our new transfer student- Jacqueline Anderson. Please treat her well." he boomed.

He instructed me to the seat of the last row of the 2nd last column, nearer to the window.

Briskly walking to the back of the class, I quickly plopped down my seat and took out my things. Glancing around I saw the seat beside me was empty and I sort of felt detached and isolated from the classroom. Whispers started rippling and I worriedly glanced at myself thinking something was wrong.

After the bell rang I quickly packed my stuff and stride out the back door. Walking with my face down, I avoided people through my peripheral vision and walked to my new locker. Seeing that it was in-between the cafeteria and the classroom I was glad that I could easily retrieve my things.

Walking towards my next class, Biology, I stuffed my books in the locker only taking out the items required and slotting it into my bag.

Finally, being able to breathe, I ambled down to my next class only to find out that it has only a handful amount of people.

Picking the sit in the middle I slid into my chair and patiently waited for the teacher.

A plum looking lady entered the class. She was wearing a floral blouse and a magenta pencil. Her short curly hair and cream pearl earrings added a rounder effect to her face.

"Alright, class welcome to literature!"

My eyes nearly bulged out of my skull.

"Literature? Isn't this Biology?" I stammered.

Everyone in the room looked at me weirdly and a snobby looking girl rolled her eyes at me.

"No sweetie, Biology is in room 210, this is 201." She said in a patronizing tone.

I have had the worst of luck today. I really began not wanting to care about being on time seeing that it's my first day but I have a really, really, really, strong guilty conscience.

Jogging down the hall I finally reached the classroom where it seemed that everyone has already settled the lesson.

I knocked on the door and apologised, "sorry I'm late, I mixed up the classroom. It's my first day."

The evident look of disapproval was shown on the old, stuck up lady.

"Very well, since this is your first day, I will let you off. don't let this happen again." she quipped.

Sighing in relief I quickly took my seat and slouched in it. Again, I felt as if I was in my own solitary room, detached from the rest of the class.

Soon lunch came about and I felt like it could finally breathe. I took out the sandwich that my mum made for me, quickly bought water from the nearby vending machine and headed out to the back of the school.

It was where the school field and bleachers were placed. Along with a few other benches and tables. I climbed up the bleachers and quietly nibbled on my food.

The azure sky was covered in magnolia white clouds. The soft, cool, breeze rustled the leaves- leaving a serene feeling.

Time passed and I enjoyed myself. I slowly felt my day getting better and I smiled to myself. Glancing at my watch, I had only 5 minutes left before the bell rang.

I hoped down the bleachers and back-paddled my way around it, trying to grasp the cool and the calm.

Turning around, I banged head first into a wall, which I did not remember it being there.

"What the fu-"

I got cut off by a deep, husky voice.

"Watch where you're going bitch" he snapped.

I felt myself snap, "Okay that is it! Look here you asshole- I have had a really shit day and I would appreciate if you would not call me a bitch when you don't even know me!" I huffed poking into the talking wall, ending off with heavy breathing.

...Talking wall?

Having my rant over I finally had a good look at the guy he towered over my 5ft 6 and wore a black shirt which was like a second skin and black jeans. His strong jaw was clenched which was a dead giveaway of his pissed expression but there was a glint of amusement in his deep grey eyes.

When I saw his thin lips curled up into a sardonic smile, I knew I was in deep shit.

'Aw man.'
