The whiplash I felt from turning my head too fast, well, let's just end it at that.
I could feel everyone within a two-meter radius staring at us. I was about to protest when he tightened his hold on me to warn me.
Fine. Two can play at that game and he'll owe me big time.
"Babe! You promised to keep it a secret until I was ready!" I threw him a sickeningly sweet smile.
As I looped my arms his waist as I discreetly pinched him as hard as I could the asshat didn't even flinch. His amused expression was irritating if only I could wipe that a smirk playing on his lips off his face.
"Aww but babe, I was too excited to introduce you, I'm sorry," he said and winked.
Sorry my ass, I tilted my head in defiance and looked away. God, I really wished I hadn't. To say that I was being imagined dead was an understatement. The eyes of the three girls in front of me was absolutely livid. I was trying hard not to cringe at their expression because honestly, they looked constipated. I threw them a sugary sweet smile and stuck my hand out.
"Hi I'm Jacquline, but please, call me Jacky!" I chirped.
I swear if my mum saw me being this sociable, she'd probably throw a party or something.
The girl in the middle stood out the most, she looked like the skankier version of Regina George from 'Mean Girls'. Minus the blonde hair. She glanced at my hand and scoffed as she flipped her wavy brown locks.
"Okay... I guess no handshake then," I said to myself, awkwardly taking my hand back.
I could literally feel the guy beside me shaking trying to hold his laughter. He looks as if he was trying not to breathe.
"Babe! I'm attempting to socialize I meant isn't that why you introduced us? To be gal pals?" I smirked, man I should win an Emmy.
He only let out an amused chuckle and told the group he had to send me back home. I could still feel the scrutinizing glares of the Mean Girl 2.0 as I ride got on his bike. I was sweating right now because it's my first time but I seriously wanted to get out of there pronto.
After clearing out of the school zone, he finally slowed down and stopped in front of a park nearby which had a bus straight to my home, I instantly leapt off the bike and turned to face him.
"What. The hell. Was that?" My voice turning an octave higher at the end.
All this, while he sat on his bike with an even bigger smirk. I huffed in annoyance and began to turn away when he let out a soft husky chuckle, which effectively, stopped me in my tracks, man his voice is something else.
I slowly turned around and cross my arms, and glared questioningly at him.
"You're really amusing you know that," he commented.
"Glad to know my suffering catered to your amusement. But seriously, who even are you? The hell was that?" I exasperated.
He lifted an eyebrow assuming I was just playing ignorant but looked at me strangely when I gave him an expectant look.
"Adrain...Adrian Caldwell." He dragged out. Like as if that name was supposed to mean anything to me.
"Okay Adrian, mind explaining to me why I may or may not have to put up with death stares for the rest of my education career here?" I said as I ran my hand through my locks.
I couldn't decipher the look he was giving me, it was thoughtful but guarded. After a long pause, he finally spoke.
"Alright, but you'd have to agree to one condition, after all, you owe after the ride out of there-" I rolled my eyes as he continued"-you have to go on a date with me," he said with finality.
I snorted at him and started walking away when I felt him latched his hand onto my wrist, "I haven't gotten your number yet."
"Do you honestly expect me to go out with you when after the manhandling and lying and you possibly have made platoon plastic back there, out to get me?" I huffed.
He threw his head back in laughter which caught me by surprise. He looked really good with the carefree expression. How his dimples formed as he laughed, pearly whites shining and all. The man has dimples.
I hadn't realised I was staring until he had a smug smile plastered on his face.
"Enjoying the view?" he smirked.
"Look, you're hot. You know it, I know it, Regina George back there knows it. But I am not going on a date with you. I will, however, give you a chance to get off that high-horse and explain to me what is going on. Like right now, at the Starbucks across the street." Enunciating every word clearly so he could catch my drift.
I saw him shook his head and smile to himself as he got off his bike. I turned around and started walking to the Starbucks.
A small smile left on my lips. Maybe school might not be so bad after all.
