Eli rose from his bed, eyes still closed, and blindly walked to his restroom. As he stood over the toilet, allowing nature to take its course, he heard a noise downstairs. Paying no mind to the sound, he walked over to the curtains and snuck his hand through; turning on the hot water. After a long relaxing shower, Eli walked to his bed where his clothes were spread out. Half dressed, sitting on the edge of the bed, he heard a loud growl. I know, I know. Without putting on a shirt, standing from his seated position on his bed, he walked out the door and descended the stairs. At the base of the stairs he could hear the Alex in the kitchen, from the sound of wood clanking together, he could tell she was going in and out of the lower cabinets. After he rounded the corner, emerging out of the hallway, he found out that he was actually wrong. She was actually in the pantry, under the bottom shelf. His scent must have been picked up by her, because as quiet as he was she turned around as soon as he placed one foot on the tile floor leading into the kitchen.

                        “Find anything you like?”

She shook her head, licking her chops, making her way to his side. When she was near him, she placed her head under his chest.

“Don’t look at me with those eyes”, he said turning his head to his left. Although he tried resisting, he still found himself face to face with Alex. The sunlight seeping in from the wide kitchen window glimmered on her big round blue eyes. He sighed, “Fine. Tonight we’ll go out and find you something to eat.” He patted her head and began to walk past her toward the refrigerator. In the three steps it took for him to get in front of the fridge, Alexandra growled again and lowered herself to the tile flooring.

“I’m about to look for something for us to eat right now” he said in a calm voice, not looking back, as he opened the left side of the fridge. “I know it’s been two days since you’ve had live prey but I had to make sure you were safe.” He leaned in and pulled out some raw meat, from the bottom drawer inside the fridge, dangling it in the air smirking.

Alexandra raced to her feet, pouncing up and down, wagging her tail ferociously back and forth. He turned his torso 180 degrees and placed the package on the island counter-top, then rotated back to the fridge. His eyes searched up and down, but found nothing. Guess its cereal for me. He interlocked his fingers with the handle of the milk and removed it from the fridge and placed it next to the meat. He peeled back the sealed wrapping and pulled out the three meats individually. Eli walked a few steps away from the fridge, the Faol full of excitement right behind him, and put down the meat with no plate; close to the table. No more than seconds after he let go, Alex was already chomping down her food.

“We’ll go out tonight, I promise” he said with a smile on his face.

In that moment Eli knew he would never be able to, mentally nor emotionally, be away from Alexandra. They were connected. Alex looked at him and nodded her head slowly. He only continued to smile as he turned and went to the pantry to get out a box of cereal. He then got out a bowl from the cabinet, to the left over the sink, and put it next to the other ingredients. After it was all set up he sat in the chair at the table that was next to Alex. As he put a spoonful in his mouth, he rubbed her arched back softly and leaned in his chair. Tonight’s the night, he nodded to himself. Tonight, I’ll finally get my answers, a grin crept on his face as he looked over at the vase, on the counter near the window, containing two double purple Daturas. If that isn’t exotic enough for her then nothing will be. A long sigh escaped his mouth as the memories re-pictured themselves on how he came to obtain these beautiful flowers.
