The cool midnight air could no longer put a dent in the amount of heat that fumed from his body. He was too enraged to think clearly and before he knew it, he was standing only inches away from Liam. His nails dug into his palms and every muscle in his body tensed. With each beat of his heart, his anger immensely deepened. What does that make everyone else? The words rang louder through his mind than the anger itself. Eli starred into the eyes of a friend. A friend who he always thought would stand by his side. A friend who he always thought he would never raise a hand too. But as he starred, he saw that this was no longer his friend. This person that stood in front of him was no longer the timid loving Liam that he once knew. No, this was a person after his own heart. Going after selfish desires that he himself made up.
It’s not worth it. Not now. His conscious spoke out to him. Slowly but surely, his fingers loosened and his brows unfrowned. His countenance softened and his shoulders slumped. He took a step back and waited for Liam’s next move. Eli smirked after seeing his reaction. He saw Liam huff and puff before actually storming off into the darkness without another word. Once he felt it was safe to leave, being that he was on a dirt trail, he took off at top speed and didn’t stop until he reached his house. It wasn’t until he closed and locked the door that he noticed his appearance had returned. Out of breath, he through his body weight on the door, with his knuckles on his forehead, he cursed loudly.
“Actually, the word is damnit”
“Not now Eldis” he muffled before swinging around, placing his back flat against the front door.
He looked in the direction to where he heard Eldis voice come from.
“What happened? Did it not go well?”
“What happened between you and joseph?” Eli said in a soft but stern tone.
“So you heard about that.” He ended in a nasal stop. Eldis got up from his laying position and sat upright at the edge of the couch’s cushion. “A misunderstanding. That’s what happened.”
“You’re the one that made the forest the way it is now. You’re the one they fear because you’re the one who is forbidden to come to Drakan.” Both of them remained quiet, holding each other’s gaze, until Eldis looked away. “I think you killed Liam’s parents. That’s the unforgivable thing she was talking about.”
Still doesn’t take apart from the fact that she’s been lying and keeping secrets from me. Just because…..
“I didn’t want to do it” Eldis said, cutting into Eli’s thoughts.
“Just like you didn’t want to kill me?!”
“Tonight was about finding out the truth – ‘’
“And I did find out. I found out that I’m human, the only one here at that. I found out the reason why Liam hates me so much. I even found out that for some reason, Ms. Adnes wants me dead. But the one thing that I didn’t find out was if I’m a kieren, then what does that make them.” He finished, pointing towards outside.
“Cretans.” He muttered distastefully.
“And what is a Cretan?”
