Finally Broken (Naruto fanfic)

Chapter 3- The Pain Slowly Fades

All was calm at the village gate until a man with white hair, wearing read and a very light green get-up. Naruto immediately saw the man and was confused.

"He looks just like his father," Jiraiya thought to himself.

Naruto didn't even utter a word to the man. Despite how curious he is as to why the man was staring at him. He then continued to give it no thought. Then afterwards, the Third came by and introduced Naruto to Jiraiya.

Although, Jiraiya had always been watching over Naruto as the Godfather. He couldn't help but state into the dead eyes of Naruto. Only to find that Naruto quickly hid his pain.

"Hopefully he didn't catch it," Naruto though to himself.

Though to be against his promises, Jiraiya did catch his sadness through his dull blue eyes right before they turned into that sky blue that he had seen Minato wear everyday. He pretended not to notice Naruto's eyes until they were at their destination.

Then the Third gave Jiraiya his mission, and made sure Naruto was listening. He knew Naruto wasn't really listening, so he just hoped  Jiraiya was the one listening. Afterwards, both Jiraiya and Naruto set off to their mission location.

Jiraiya was also in the making of a new book so that kind of annoyed Naruto. Though Naruto couldn't say a word, but he was lost in his thoughts of when the village would mistreat him.

Jiraiya saw this and attempted to put a hand on Naruto's shoulder. Though when his hand landed Naruto jumped  back a bit whimpering, "Please don't hurt me." This broke Jiraiya's heart to see his Godson act like this. In fear that others would constantly hurt him. He wanted to tell Naruto that he was his godfather, but then many things could go wrong with that. Naruto would yell at him, run away, or either just stand there in disbelief. It's either those or something else.

Jiraiya ended up not telling Naruto about it, but instead got Naruto a popsicle so that he can loosen up a little bit. Though, Naruto just tensed even more. He was afraid of the sudden kindness that Jiraiya showed. Then, he hesitantly took the popsicle and silently said, "Thank you."

"You okay Naruto?" Jiraiya asked.

"Yes," Naruto said.

"You don't really seem okay."

"If I say I'm okay, then I'm okay. Alright?"

Jiraiya was at a loss of words after this. He knew Naruto felt hostility because of the village, but he never knew it went this far. He knew Naruto needed help. He even knew that Naruto wanted it, but Naruto wanted to try and get out on in his own.

After a while, they reached their destination. They looked for an inn to stay at and went to see what was around the town. Jiraiya's mission was to loosen up Naruto and help him get stronger to protect himself. Though Naruto kept tensing up and backed away every time Jiraiya tried to place a hand on his shoulder.

That night, Naruto snuck out of the hotel room to get some "fresh air." Little did he know that Jiraiya was wide awake at this time. Jiraiya followed Naruto to the outskirts of the town and saw the one thing that he did not want to see. What he saw was Naruto with a kunai in one hand and a wrist with blood dripping from the cut.

Jiraiya walked up to Naruto and asked, "What happened here?" while putting both hands on his hips.

"Oh.... uh just finished some training," Naruto replied.

"Then what happened to your wrists?"

"What do you mean?" Naruto asked as he was putting his hands behind his back.

Jiraiya grabbed Naruto's hand and pointed to the cuts. "I mean this," he answered.

"That's just nothing," Naruto replied nervously.

Jiraiya brought out some bandages and started wrapping Naruto's arms. Then Naruto went into his mindscape.

"Hey Kurama," he said.

"What's up kit?" Kurama asked.

"Do you think I can trust this hermit?"

"Well he's already shown affection by not trting to kill you, and wrapping up your cuts you did yourself."

"Alright. But what if he's trying to lure me into a trap to make me believe that I can be loved by someone else? I mean isn't that a possibility."

"Don't worry. I'm here, so I can heal your wounds and I can just wrap you in my cloak to fight back. Don't worry I'll be with you no matter what. And I'm not just saying that bcause I'm sealed in here."

"Okay. Whatever you say Kurama. It lightens my heart a little bit knowing someone cares about me."

A/N: Finally finished this chapter. I was stuck on how I should start their journey. What do you guys think? Don't be afraid to criticize the story. It will help not only me, but also other writers get better by me learning to fix it, and the other writers to be wary of that mistake. Well I'm gonna go plan the next chapter, so I might not update for a while as I am drawing a blank. Stay tuned and have fun!!!
