Chapter 1-Slipping Away

"Alright, Shikamaru!" Choji exclaimed. After that, they trailed Naruto to a not so familiar area of the village. Naruto then looked around making sure no one saw him. Shikamaru and Choji quickly hid and waited for the clear. Then Naruto went inside the building as the two followed close behind.

What they found brought shock to Shikamaru and Choji. They saw Naruto grabbing a kunai and about to slit his wrist.

"Stop!" yelled Shikamaru. Naruto flinched at the scream and saw his friend. Then he just ran away using the alleys of the village he always used to escape the villagers to run from his friends. Then when he thinks that he's lost his friends in an alley he resumes what he was doing earlier.

"Naruto! Don't you dare do what I think you're gonna do!" Shikamaru shouted as he looked at Choji, signalling him to hold him down. Choji held onto Naruto as he struggled to break free from his grip. Naruto then looked up at Shikamaru, and the next thing Shika saw was heartbreaking. It was those same blue eyes, but instead of shining bright like a great summer day they just shone of the waves of a stormy sea.

"What do we do with him right now Shikamaru?" Choji asked.

"Disarm him of any ninja tools and bring him to Lord Hokage," Shikamaru stated as he went to go find the academy teacher.

"What about you?"

"I'm gonna go find Iruka-sensei!"

With that, they both parted ways. Choji then carried Naruto to the hokage tower to inform the Third on Naruto's crisis. Though before he did so, he made sure Naruto wouldn't resist so he knocked him out.

With Shikamaru

Shikamaru was running around Konoha looking for Iruka. Then he spots a familiar Chunin at the academy, just barely leaving.

"Iruka-sensei!" Shikamaru cried out.

"Oh! Shikamaru! What's up?" Iruka replied.

"It's Naruto. He's changed."

"How so?"

At the hokage tower

"Lord Hokage! Sorry to barge in like this!" Choji apologized.

"No, no. It's fine Choji," the Third said as he saw Naruto, "What's wrong?"

"H-he's changed in some way!"

"How so?"

Just then, Iruka barged in with Shikamaru and yelled, "Choji! Roll up his sleeves!"

Choji did just that, and to their horror they found many cuts as well as fresh ones from yesterday.

"Take him to the hospital and get him some help!" Third exclaimed.

They all went to the hospital and the difficulties didn't stop there. The doctors and nurses refused to work on Naruto saying they only worked on people, not "demons." As they were getting frustrated, Sarutobi came in and ordered them to work on him and help him.

They reluctantly took him to a room and stitched his fresh cuts. Sarutobi told the two to go back home and study for the exam.

The day of the exam

Naruto still wanted to become a ninja, so he went and took the exam and passed it. He then went home with Iruka close behind. Then Naruto ran like a few days ago and he locked his door so no one could bother him in his apartment. Which had names written in his blood as there would be a ninja who was secretly hired to torture him. He started crying softly as a voice suddenly came up in his head.

"What do you think you're doing?" the voice asked.

"Nothing," Naruto replied.

"Doesn't seem like nothing. You okay, Kit?" the voice questioned.

"Y-yes."

"Tell you what? I'll help you experience true happiness, but on one condition."

"Which is?"

"Take this seal off and you're already on your way." the voice said, smiling.
