What Is That You Truly Seek?

What is that we truly seek?
Is it fame? Popularity?
What good does being popular do?
To get views, likes, shares, comments?
To get praise, recognition, acknowledgment,
Is fame the answer?

What is that we truly seek?
Money? Oh it has to be.
For I see people doing anything for mere paper,
Steal, kill, betray,
Everyone around us does everything for money
Is money the answer?

What is that we truly seek?
Wisdom? Knowledge?
But then why do students care more about marks and grades,
Parents, about pride and unfinished dreams,
Friends, about how reputed our college is,
Society, about how much money we would be able to make?
Is knowledge really the answer?

What is that we truly seek?
Peace? Is it really peace?
Then why do countries invest in weapons,
The same who give people noble peace awards?
Why do people in the borders live in fear?
Why do we need armies? Weapons? Security?
Aren't we one big family?
No. It can't be peace.

Then what is that we truly seek?
Ponder upon that for a minute.
Because we ought to know what we truly want,
So that we can make peace with our past,
So that we can be strong,
So that we can make our world a better place to live in.

So tell me,
What is that you truly seek?
