Chapter 7 : -29 days

'To Him we belong and to Him shall we return.'

Ahmad's crisis increased just like Dr Seanfil had said. His heartbeats were frightfully reducing and his energy too. Death was coming slowly, making its way through his body bit by bit. It was hurting in a point he couldn’t have ever imagined. Intense, painful, and almost daily, it made him wake up at night.

Nonetheless he still had hope. Hope in Allah of course. He is the only One who will help him.

"Did you take your medicine Ahmad?" His dad asked in the corridor.

"Yes dad! An hour ago!"

"May Allah heal you" his dad whispered before going downstairs.

This afternoon was silent in the house. The twins were playing outside with their mom while Firdaws was doing her homeworks in her room.

Ahmad however was reading a book he had just found in a local Muslim bookshop.

One particular quote made him realize the true meaning of life and made him cry.

“This dunya is like a shadow. If you try to catch it, you will never be able to do so. If you turn your

back towards it, it has no choice but to follow you.

Ibn al Qayyim

Ahmad, like almost every teen had spent time, trying to catch dunya. It was a fault and now that he found the way to Allah, now that Allah has removed his blindness, he knew what life truly is. It was adoring Allah and by adoring Allah he had to obey him and follow his instructions and Sunnah. Allah gave us everything so we could live happily and yet just a little obey and follow his orders.

Ahmad learnt and encouraged his sisters, his friends and even his parents to practice as best as he could. He wasn’t an example, he was just trying to follow the example of every Muslim : Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Ahmad closed the book and lay on his bed. He felt peace and calmness in his mind. Everything was perfectly fine. Thanking Allah, he turned on the bed to find a comfortable position when suddenly his heart ached. This time it wasn’t as painful as the others but still. The arteries slowed down, pumping less and less blood by the seconds. He felt dizzy and tried to sit, he fell dangerously on the floor. He tried to stand up but fell on his back. His face became pallid and his eyes were heavy. It's my time he thought, I'm going to die now, a month before predicted by Dr Seanfil. Death came closer and closer. Ahmad closed his eyes, his hand on his heart and his finger raised, he pronounced the Shahada. He wasn’t ready but he had to return to Him. Fog was surrounding him and suddenly he fell on the deepest sleep Dr. Seanfil had informed him about.

Later that day, Firdaws found him, laid on the floor, his head on the side and his hand on his heart. Even if she screamed and cried, Ahmad's eyes didn’t open.
