The days went by in a blur. The man called McCree managed to find a seat near him during every meal and always tried to strike up a conversation, but in never worked. Hanzo rarely spoke but when he did it was usually just to tell him to go away. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and still the cowboy tried to befriend the archer, and unbeknownst to the both of them they were getting very close.

"Howdy, Hanzo! I heard yer doin great in yer trainin sessions with Commander Reyes. Congrats!" McCree said during dinner one night, resting his metal arm over Hanzo's shoulder. "Yknow, i was thinkin maybe we could get a drink or two to celebrate. Waddaya say?"
Hanzo crossed his arms. "It is not a good idea to consume alcohol the day before a mission, McCree. I decline."
"Aw cmon darlin, it'll just be a little. Let loose and have some fun for once." He grabbed him by the arm and started pulling him out of the mess hall. "Where are you taking me? McCree, i do not have time for games."
"Calm down, im just takin you to my room. I got a bottle of whiskey stashed in there that ive been savin for a special occasion."
Hanzo tried once again to get away from the determined cowboy, but finally gave up and allowed himself to be lead to his room. Once there, Jesse went through all his belongings and pulled out a big bottle of liquor.
"Ive never tasted anything quite like this before. Im not sure i like it." Hanzo said when he took a sip.
"You'll get used to it darlin. It just takes some time."
They passed the bottle back and forth and soon it became evident that they were both drunk.

"...and so i say to the guy: 'well it's high noon somewhere in the world,' and run the hell outta the bar." McCree finished, and Hanzo burst out laughing.
"Gee, ive never seen you this lively before. I wonder if the whiskey's got anythin to do with it."
Hanzo wiped tears away from his eyes and gradually calmed down.   "The liquor is most likely to blame. It is alright, I just havent had this much fun since my brother and i..." He trailed off. McCree noticed the sudden silence and came over to him. "You alright, darlin? What's wrong?" Hanzo stared at his dull, gray hands and felt tears trickle down his cheeks. He saw the color fade just a bit more and he slumped to the floor. Burying his face in his hands, he broke down crying.
"Im so sorry Genji.... this was all my fault...." he mumbled in between sobs. McCree hugged him close to his chest and rubbed his back, and they stayed like this for a long time. He kept his eyes shut and just stayed there, feeling the warmth of the embrace. Soon, he felt himself drift off to sleep.
