"Have you found yours?"

His eyes darted back up to look at me and his lips twitched a little before he spoke, "I did find her, vitae meae sodalist (my soul mate)."

For some odd reason, his answer stirred disappointment and sadness deep inside of me and I felt my heart twisting a little. I wanted to ask him who but that would be too forward of me. I tightened my fist silently and darted my eyes away from him. I saw that everyone was looking at us and I blushed as my hand moved to play with the hem of my shirt awkwardly.

Invictus pulled back and in a flash he was across the room away from me. It was as if he suddenly realizes where we were and was scared to be close to me. Caden scooted over a little and patted the seat next to him.

"Come here, closer to the fire. You look like you're cold." He said. I smiled as he was sweet enough to think about me. I moved to sit next to him. He returned my smile as he pushed Max over with his hip more so that he would have more room.

"Thank you." I whispered. I could feel Invictus's eyes burning into the back of my head and down to my neck where my hairs prickled with awareness.

"So, what is your name?" He asked. I wrapped my arms around my front to ward off the cold and then turned my attention to him. His blonde curly hair falling loosely around his head to his shoulders, he looked like one of those beach boys. His hazel eyes were looking at me with mischief. Are all lycans gorgeous? I'm sitting in a room full of hot mythical creatures.

"Deidre." I said quietly and he spoke my name, rolling it around in his tongue. "It's cute. You're cute."

A low growl rumbled from behind me. I was about to turn and look to see but Caden wrapped an arm around me. "Here let me help you. One thing that Invictus forgot to tell you is that lycans have good body heat. So tonight, baby, I'll be your heater."

Wood splintered behind me and I was about to turn again but Caden's hand came up to squeeze my cheeks as he held my face in front of him. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw Marc snickering. Caden's mouth was twitching. I narrowed my eyes on him.

"Baby, you don't have to look anywhere else."

"Caden, why don't you and Marc go do a perimeter check?" Invictus angrily growled out. Caden briefly turned to look at Invictus before turning back to me.

"I guess we will have to pick this up later." He winked at me and stood up. Marc grumbled a response and headed outside first.

Caden untangled himself from me before standing up and walking out the door whistling happily with his hand stuffed in his pockets. I looked at Max and Ron who was having a private conversation and I shifted uncomfortably as I can still feel Invictus's eyes on me-watching me. It sent a heated jolt to my core and I bit my cheek.

When I couldn't take it any longer, I risked a glance in his direction and when he saw me looking at him he smirked. I glowered at him before settling back in the soft velvet couch as I stared into the fireplace. As soon as my body started warming up, I started getting drowsy. My eyes fluttered opened and close slowly before I finally succumbed to the heaviness of my eyelids and closed my eyes.

Sometime later, I awoke as I was being carried somewhere. The feel of the body next to mine told me who it was. I snuggled closer to his body and inhaled his addicting scent. I wonder what type of cologne he used. I have never smelt this kind before. I pressed my cheeks to his chest as I let sleep take over again as I was content to be in Invictus's arms.

I awoke again that night in a soft bed alone. I slowly pushed myself up to a sitting position as I looked around. It was the room I changed earlier in. The cabin was deathly quiet and lights were completely turned off. My stomach grumbled as I have gone for hours without food. I placed my hand over it to quiet it down. I thought about going back to bed but my stomach was now gurgling. I rolled my eyes and threw the covers off gently as I pulled my legs to the edge of the bed and quietly walked to the bedroom door.

The floor creaked as I continued to walk and each time I would grimace, hoping no one heard me. When my hand came out to touch the door knob I heard a voice behind me speaking sleepily.

"You are loud when you are sneaking around."

I whipped around as I didn't expect anyone in the room with me but then again I didn't even think to check. My eyes landed on a form on the bed next to where I was sleeping.

"Invictus?" I whispered.

"What are you doing?" He asked his voice half muffled into the pillow.

"What are you doing in my bed?" I asked.

He pushed himself off the bed and walked towards me. When he came into the moon light I stared at his naked muscular chest that had an Aztec tattoo across it and on top of the tattoo were also some lettering. I wonder what it means. My eyes trailed down his sleek six packs and to where a pair of grey sweatpants hugged around his waist.

"You didn't answer my question. Were you trying to leave?" He asked.

I blinked several times as his words sunk in and then my eyes fluttered back up to him, heat spreading on my cheeks. "I was hungry."

He gazed at me for what seems like a moment before he sighed. "I am sorry, little moon. I forgot to feed you."

He moved to open the door. I followed closely behind him as he took me into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and began taking out some meat and veggies.

"You don't have to. I can do it. You can go back to bed." I offered.

"It's fine. I should be the one cooking for you. It is my job." He said quietly. I frowned at what he just said but figured it was him saying he was the owner of the place and should be the one cooking for his guest.

I moved to sit on a stool and dropped my chin on my palm as I observed him cook. His back was facing me and I took my time watching how his muscles moved along with his arms movement. It was actually really fascinating and I wondered how it would feel under my palm. The sweat pants were just right below his waist and you can see just the curve of his naked butt slightly. I shifted in my seat uneasily as dirty thoughts entered my mind. I was extremely attracted to Invictus

When he was done he turned around and placed the plate of food in front of me. It smelt delicious. My mouth watered in response and I picked up the fork and knife in my hand as I cut away into the meat. When I placed it in my mouth it was amazing-like a burst of fireworks. A moan escaped my lips as I chewed. My tongue slipped out to lick the juice off my lips.

My eyes opened soon after and I went for another piece but I saw how rigid Invictus looked. I frowned and placed my hands back on the table as I looked at him. He looked like he was struggling and in pain.

"Are you okay?" I asked. "Are you hungry?"

A low rumble came from his chest and his eyes darkened. I shifted uneasily as he was looking at me like I was something he would eat if he can.

"So, uh, what does your tattoo say?" I asked awkwardly as I pointed at it with my fork. He inhaled sharply and closed his eyes briefly before turning his back on me as he gripped the counter.

"Illis quos amo deserviam...for those I love I will sacrifice." He said huskily.

My eyes lit up at the saying. "Why?"

"Little moon, you don't want to know."He replied turning back to look at me. His eyes a lighter color.

"It is a little too late for that, isn't it? You did say I am no longer safe. What will a tattoo do to hurt me?" I replied as I poked a piece of veggie and placed it in my mouth.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "This tattoo is what keeps me sane. It is what gives me a purpose to live."

"You are talking in riddles." I replied. "I don't understand."

He looked at me completely then as he spoke. "You will know one day, little moon."
