I decided to write His Missing Smile for three reasons:

1.) To see if I can write a typical Wattpad teen fiction.

2.) To see which one becomes more popular: The teen fiction who's chapters I crank out in a day or the fantasy that takes weeks to update because I pour my heart and soul into every little detail.

3.) Because I'm tired of the typical Wattpad teen fiction.

I know, I know. The first reason and the third reason contradict each other. What I mean is I'm tired of the classic "bad boy, good girl" and "bad boy, nerd" and "bad boy, nobody" fiction.

Technically, His Missing Smile is a "bad boy/emo, good girl" fic but I like to think it doesn't follow the usual plot line. Instead of it being that the bad boy chases the good girl because she's the only one who doesn't drool over him or because he caught her doing something that contradicts her good girl status or because whatever reason, I wanted to write a story wear the good girl is chasing the bad boy. I wanted to write a story where she's not chasing him because she's attracted to him - she's chasing him because she's worried about him. She wants to know why he's a "bad boy" what made him that way. Her goal isn't to get into his pants, her goal is to see what makes him tick.

Thus creates the story of Aurora "Rory" Green and Joshua "Josh" Watson.

Now, I am a firm believer that some people are the way they are just because. Arrogance, selfishness, and being hot-headed are all valid traits that creates a bad person and some people have them for seemingly no reason. They're spoiled and/or believe they're better than others because that's how they are and was raised to behave and think. Not every bad boy needs a heart of gold and not every villain needs a sob story that justifies them being villain.

With that said, this is why I decided to make it that Rory and Josh were friends before his disappearance. She knows he wasn't already like this and so she knows that something happened to make him that way.

Um... that's it, I think. I hope you enjoy His Missing Smile and please check out my fantasy novel Shadows in the Citadel if you have the chance.
