Jessalyn's POV
Me and Rebecca make our way to her house. Her house isn't far away and we haven't gotten our licenses yet because our parents tell us that we probably would be "a danger to society", while our parents would chuckle softly, me and her would look at each other and exchange words through our mutual silence.
The thought of the dream was trying to wedge itself back inside my head, when I had tried for so long not to think about it. I was trying to escape from it. Trying to convince myself that the boy I see in my dreams every night is not real. I know I've seen him before but I brush it off, remembering it's just a dream and there's no way he can exist.
We finally reach Rebecca's house, which isn't far from school. As we made our way closer I could see Rebecca's mother in her garden. Rebecca looked so much like her mother, it's unreal. To the same curly brown hair, to the same button nose. The only thing that was different was her mother's eyes were a mix between green and blue.
I always loved Jazz. That's what her mom told me to call her the first day me and Rebecca ever had a playdate when we were little. She was practically a second mother to me.
As she saw us come into view, she smiled her dazzling smile and embraced me and Rebecca into a hug.
"How was your last day of school girls?" She asked with such an enthusiastic voice. She started to remove her gardening gloves.
"It was great mom." Rebecca said absentmindedly. She and her mom didn't get along much after Riley passed away. Making their father the peacemaker. Jazz's smiled faded and I could see some pain flash in her eyes before it was gone.
I smiled back in return saying, "It was actually really good." Which brought back her smile. She ushers us inside mumbling something about the heat. We sit at the kitchen table while Jazz gets me and Rebecca glasses of water. Rebecca'smood flipped after seeing her mom. She was tapping away on her phone, while I picked at a loose string in the hem of my shirt.
"Jessalyn, is everything okay dear?" I look up to see Jazz looking at me with motherly eyes.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just tired and hot." I say with a forced smile, lying to her made my heart ache. But there was no possible way I was telling her about my dreams. It was already hard enough to get Rebecca to believe me when I told her last year.
She hands me my glass of water and comes around to give me a hug and whispered to me that she was there if I needed to talk. I nodded and smiled back at her before she exited the kitchen. Announcing while she was walking out that she would be in her bedroom cleaning. I waved goodbye while Rebecca mumbled bye and continued to pay attention to her phone.
I turn to Rebecca and give her a hateful look and hiss to her, "why must you be so rude to your mother? It wasn't her fault he pass-" I stopped in mid-sentence. Knowing that it would make her upset.
She looks up at me slowly, I see a traitor of a tear make it's way down her cheek. When our eyes finally meet, she whispers to me.
"She hates me Jessalyn, can't you see that? It's my fault he died." She chokes out as tears start to roll down her face.
"I shouldn't of let him drive home drunk."
I hope you enjoyed this chapter, it was basically just a filler and you get a sneak peek into how Riley passed away. Vote and Comment. I hope you continue with my story.
