Present Time
Jessalyn's POV
I feel like a bad best friend when I look into Rebecca's eyes. I could feel her pain, I know it was difficult for her to process everything that had happened. Riley was her best friend, and she feels like she's to blame since she's the one who begged him to take her to that lame party.
"I-im really sorry, I didn't mean to say that." I say looking down at my lap. I can hear her trying to not cry but she fails at being quiet. I look up and see her trembling, I stand up and embrace her with a huge hug. Whispering to her that it was okay.
She smiled at me which made me sigh a breath of relief knowing she wasn't to upset with me. She changes the subject, "Let's go to my room." She says standing up. I nod and grabbed my things and follow her up to her room. I fall onto her bed and just groan into the bed. I roll over onto my back and stare at her ceiling. Rebecca lays next to me.
"Do you want to stay awake all night and just binge watch Grey's Anatomy on Netflix?" Rebecca asks looking at me with sincere eyes. I know what she meant. Staying up all night so I wouldn't have to have that dream again. The dream itself isn't that bad, but it's gets overwhelming when you have it every night when you go to sleep for 2 years straight.
Rebecca tried to persuade me to go seek professional help, even suggesting we go to a hypnotist to try and stop the dream.
"Yeah, let's do it." I croak out, my throat surprisingly dry.
Rebecca eventually gets up and goes downstairs to get some things for our long night. I sit up with a pounding headache. I get up and walk to the wall Rebecca has dedicated to photos of her closest friends and her family. I smile when I see most of the pictures are of me and her.
I must've lost track of time because Rebecca is sitting on her bed just watching me. I look at her, "Lots of memories, huh?" I say with a smile.
"Yeah, I love our photos. They're a good representation of our friendship." She says.
She was right. Most photos were taken when we weren't expecting it. Us laughing together, us just talking, or us doing random activities.
"Well, let's start our huge binge watch!" I say jumping onto Rebecca's bed.
Hours and many episodes pass before it's super late. Rebecca is passed out with her hand in the bowl of popcorn. I laugh to myself quietly, and get up to move the popcorn away and cover her up with a blanket.
I stay up to watch a few more episodes, then I start yawning. A very bad sign that I'll end up passing out soon.
I get up and pace across the floor several times before I sit down. When I feel the wave of sleepiness crash over me, I jolt up and quickly head to the bathroom to splash cold water onto my face. I sit on the floor and put my head in my hands and just close my eyes for what feels like hours, but only turns out to be a few seconds. I lay next to Rebecca and just stare at her ceiling as I was doing before. I sigh and just give up on the fight to stay awake and I close my eyes. That's when I fall asleep, and fall right back to the same dream.
