The little girl pulls her tiny feet under the blanket her mother knitted for her last week. Her room is alight from the moonlight flooding through the window except for one corner of the room. The corner she feared so much.
Her small hands tugged the blanket up to her nose, staring at the blackened spot in her cozy home. The moonlight made her green eyes sparkle. A breathy huff came from the corner.
Filled with fright, the little girl fully emerges herself under her mother's knitting. Heavy thuds traveled across her nursery room, coming closer and closer.
A shrilling shriek slips her tiny rosebud lips as something lifts her from her bed. The safety of her mother's knitting slips from her grasp and disappears. A hot breath tickles her neck.
"Gotcha," the boogeyman whispers and smiles as she laughs, carrying her away into the darkness.
