A girl had a dream once. A dream to live in a big house with a man she loved with children and a few dogs running about. A dream to have no worries, only happiness. As she grew older, her dream changed with the people she met. The first one cracked her dream a little. They hit her with a cruel reality of lies and deceit. Her hope slightly waivered.
The next person shattered her dream and heart. They beat down her hope and innocence with punishment. They beat into her mind that the world was not kind and nobody would love her. She can never forget that person, their face haunting her dreams forever.
Another attempt to fix her broken heart, only breaking it more. She believed there could be no such thing as love. There was no happy ending for anyone, no matter the effort. They blamed her for being herself and chose someone close to her instead. All her hopes and dreams were shrouded in darkness. Her heart shattered into a million pieces at her feet.
Someone close to her for half a decade came in with open arms and sweet words. Foolishly, she believed this was the one and all her worries were over. Panic and illness struck all around her, and when she felt she needed them most, they abandoned her. Her tears could fill the ocean, her cries replacing the crashing of waves in her emotions.
The last person came along, unexpected and unsure. They looked at her and saw her for something more. They slowly picked up the pieces and carefully took the time to mend them back together, taking a few of their own pieces to fix her. They looked at their work and smiled. It wasn't brand new, but it was perfect to them. Instead of beating her down, they gave her a hug. And for once in her life, she felt safe and free. All it took was for someone to take her pieces and give her a mended heart.
