"Eva, you are going to be late. What is taking you so long?" I can hear my mother calling me.

She doesn't want me to be late on the very first day of my senior year at high school. But I was a tad bit nervous. Okay, I was a lot nervous because it wasn't just my first day of senior year, but it was also my first day at this new school and I had no idea what to expect.

Right now I was giving myself a pep talk in front the mirror. Seriously how different can it be from the previous school that I have attended? Then why am I nervous? Errrr.

"Seriously Annie" I jumped and turned around to find Ethan leaning against my door frame, smirking at me.

"Why are you all worked up about the idea of a new school?" He continued. I struck out my tongue at him and turned around to the mirror.

Ethan is my best friend. He is the closest person to me. I met him when I was 6 years old and we have been inseparable from then. He is the only one who calls me Annie and I smiled internally remembering the reason why he started calling me that a long time ago.

I had one last look at the mirror and a pair of dark green, slightly wide eyes stared back at me. My long black hair was pulled into a pony tail and I looked a little pale. I saw Ethan come and stand by my side. He put his hand around my waist and pulled me in for a tight hug. "It's going to be okay Annie, I will be there as well right?" He said and started pulling me out of the room.

I am 16 years old and Ethan is 17. But the only people who know that is Ethan's and my parents. For the rest of the world I am Evangeline Mathews, a 17 year old, just like Ethan. The truth is that, the events which happened in my life when I was 6 years old led to my adoption by two of the greatest people I have met. They are now my parents, Melissa and Chris Mathews. That day they forged all the official records to change my age from 6 to 7 and they change my real name. In short, they buried my true identity to create a new me. They wanted to forever hide me from the world. Both Ethan's and my parents were involved in this endeavour to protect me from my terrifying past. It is a past which I don't wish to remember due to fear of hyperventilation.

When I officially became 10 years old, they shipped Ethan and me to a private boarding school in England. But both parties missed each other too terribly that each year our parents would re-evaluate their decision to let us continue our education there. But they finally gave in this year and bought was back to finish our school year with them. All the credit goes to Lily, Ethan's mother who pestered Ray, Ethan's father and my parents to bring us back for the last year of school before we both will be off to college next year. It was not much of a battle considering the fact that they were all too eager to consent. So here we are, about to start our last year at Igor Mann Academy in Seattle, a private school for progenies of the obnoxiously rich population of USA.

When we got into the living rooms, both my parents were standing their waiting for us, my father with a smile and my mother with a scowl marring her face.

"I don't care if you are going to be late, but both of you are not going to skip breakfast on the very first day itself." She said with an annoyed expression.

"Of course we won't, Melissa. Your breakfast is too good to past and we aren't late, so don't fret" Ethan said in his usual charming self, visibly calming my slightly anxious mother.

He threw a hand over my mother's shoulder and together they went into the kitchen to bring breakfast to the dining table. So, I went and sat with dad in the sofa, leaning into his shoulder. He put his hands around my shoulder and pulled me in for a hug.
