Next day, when Elle came to collect her things from my home, I went with her to school. She was behaving fairly distant today. Maybe it was due to what happened yesterday. She must be pretty shaken. So I didn't ask her anything. She deserves some time to compose herself before she could tell me something.

But the major part of my brain was chastising Ean for whatever he must have done. I had already told him to just let the matter go. But he had to go behind my back. He should have just trusted me. The more I thought about these things, the more frustrated I was getting.

I didn't tell Elle though. I didn't want to stress her more.

"Ean. Over here."

We were in the school corridor and Ean was standing at the other end, casually leaning against his locker. When he saw us he started running towards us.

"Are you okay Annie?" He pulled me in for a hug. He sounded extremely worried. I felt like forgiving him that instant, but I want an explanation before I can forgive.

So I pulled back from him. I started walking to an empty class. We needed some privacy if we are to talk after all. When all three of us were inside, I turned to close the door. But before I could close it, someone pushed it from outside. The force of the push nearly knocked me off my feet. But a hand caught mine to steady me. Of course, who else? It was Kayden, closely followed by Aiden and Liam.

Kayden pulled me closer to him and tucked a loose hair strand of mine behind my ears.

"You should be more careful, red. I won't be there to save you all the time." He winked at me.

I wanted to tell him that he was the very reason that I nearly felt down, but I was busy nursing a severe case of heart palpitation. Why am I like this around him? I must be having some medical condition. I need to get myself checked.

"Get your hands off her." An angry Ean yanked me away from Kayden's grip.

Kayden closed his eyes as if to control his temper. "You should not interrupt two people in a passionate conversation, Emerson. Didn't mommy teach you any manners?" He sneered.

"F**k off, Romero. You don't want to irk me this early in the morning."

"No, no Ean boy. No bad words. Do you want me to wash your mouth with soap for you?" Liam mocked Ean.

Ean started advancing towards Liam. I had no choice but to stand in between them or they were sure to end up in a brawl.

"Back off, Liam. You guys interrupted us. So I am kindly asking you to leave." I said.

"Or what Eva?" Aiden butted in.

"Leave her, Aiden. She doesn't know half the story of what her darling Ean had done." Kayden said looking into my eyes.

"Whatever you are about to say. I don't want to hear it. If Ean wants to tell me something, then he will tell me himself." I warned Kayden.

You have guessed right. As much as Ean is protective of me, I am also defensive when it comes to him.

"Of course. You trust this f**king asshole." Kayden bellowed.

"I said I don't want to hear anything more from you." I shouted back.

Kayden was crossing a line.

"Okay, you can do whatever you want with your Ean. But that doesn't leave the fact your other bestie Elle is part of the Mafia." Aiden said with an evil grin.
