Naruto Uzumaki always knew he was different, or at least treated differently, but this was now being confirmed as he landed roughly on the hard ground outside of the orphanage building.

"Your kind aren't welcome here! So stay away!" the caretaker hissed at him before slamming the door shut, leaving him lying down in the street. He sighed and picked himself up off of the dirt. The sky was dark, showing that it was late, and Naruto could only hope that here were no drunks around as he made his way towards the hokage tower.

The now four year old Naruto Uzumaki had grown up in the orphanage, but right when his birthday came around, they kicked him out. He had never liked living there, after all, they had done barely enough to just make sure he was still living, so he wasn't exactly sad about not having to stay there any longer.

Thankfully, the timing was right around when the hokage would take his leave, and Naruto had managed to get himself to the building right before the hokage exited. Once the old man saw Naruto he was on alert, and immediately dragged Naruto with him back into his office.

Hiruzen asked Naruto what had happened, and he replied with, "The inevitable, defenestration." The hokage glared at the child for trying to crack a joke after being found wandering during the night, and Naruto saw his annoyed look. "I'm serious jiji, they threw me out, even if it wasn't by window." The hokage was shocked at first, but knew that the boy wouldn't lie to him.

"Who did it?" The hokage asked angrily. Naruto sighed, "I wish I could tell you jiji, but the plan was commenced in secret, and the only ones that I knew participated were well rounded citizens, they were simply acting on anger and you know that. There is no reason for me to give their identities."

Hiruzen huffed in annoyance, even though they treated him so badly the child didn't hold it against those that hurt him. He didn't ask Naruto again, there were Anbu set to watch Naruto at all times, even during sleeping hours, so the ones on shift must've seen at least one person who committed the act. That was all they needed, if they got one person they could drag out the others's names and have them sent for immediate execution. Besides, the boy was stubborn, and Hiruzen doubted that even Ibiki could get him to surrender their identities.

The hokage sighed internally at the sleepy figure of Naruto. Just what could he do for the boy? The villagers ignored his pleas to leave him alone and fired back by hurting him more, even going so low as to say that their own hokage was under the control of the Kyuubi.

Hiruzen decided that the least he could do was help the boy, and instruct him to live as a shinobi, which is something he knew that the boy wanted to do. He would start by trying to get Naruto to unlock his chakra, beginning tomorrow. He would also need to get the child a home, maybe an apartment? But where? And who would even sell a living space to the village pariah? The hokage groaned silently, he was getting too old for this, and set off to find Naruto a suitable place to stay.
