Prologue

Prologue: Memories

The familiar faces of her beloved teammates flashed through her mind as she dreamt.

Ayako.
Monk.
Yasu.
Masako.
John.
Lin.
Naru.

They all stood there looking at the young assistant. They all had red glowing eyes as they spoke in sync,

"Run away and never return, Mai!"

Mai sat up, sweating and panting. She calmed a little and looked around to see objects on the floor, either smashed or cracked with scratches from the compact.

I lost control again.. Mai thought looking at the mess her PK caused.

She stood up from her bed and begain to pick everything up and clean up the shattered glass. She sat back down on her bed, looking at the photo on her desk of SPR, remembering their voices.

Mai! Ayako...
Haha, Mai! Monk, Yasu...
Mai... *giggles* Lin...
Hmph! Masako...
Good 'ay Mai! John..
Baka, Mai. ...Naru...

She smiled sadly at the picture that was over 2 years old, remembering their jobs and all the fun they had.

After all the years of living, I finally found a family. But, they left me too.
Mai thought as a tear rolled down her cheek.

She ignored it and laid back down since it was still early. She drifted back off into the same black void as before.

Mai sat up with her alarm clock going off. She slapped the snooze button but it wouldn't stop. Annoyed, she got up and threw it out the window.

"Ittai!" A young male voice shouted as the clock hit his head.

Mai heard and looked down to see someone familiar.

"Omg! John!" She shouted down.

"Oh, hi Mai!" He shouted up to her window.

Mai told him to come in. He did as requested and went inside to see pictures of a family. There was a little girl who he guessed was little Mai and two adults whom he guessed to be her parents.

Mai, on the other hand, got changed into her uniform and brushed her teeth and hair. Satisfied with her looks, she ran down the stairs to see John looking at the photo.

"Is this your parents?" He asked sweetly.

She nodded, looking at the 10 year old photo.

"Yah" she replied with a sad smile.

Her and John went to a little coffee shop to talk about everything and catch up.

"What? Your PK?" John asked, looking at her oddly.

"Yah, my PK Is out of control at night. Things are thrown across the room, either shattered or cracked. It's probably because of my dreams."

"What kind of dreams are you having?" He asked in a curious tone.

"Well.. I can't remember. I can remember the feelings of fear and dread though. I felt sad and scared of something or someone." She replied while drinking her earl grey tea.

"I'm not sure, maybe Monk might be able to help." He said with hope.

I giggled with a nod, enjoying his determination.

Mai laid down on her bed looking at the ceiling as she yawned sleepily. She had lots of fun with John. They talked all the way to 6pm! She sighed and changed into her pj's. She then flopped back onto her bed. She knew she'd contact Monk in the morning, but for now, sleep begged for her as she accepted it's request and fell asleep, happily knowing her PK mess might be over in the morning.
