After I got home, I found out that Wes had told our parents that I went shopping with Amy and my phone had died. I'd stopped by the house to change and told Wes where I was going to be and to tell the two of them.
Suppposedly.
I gave my brother a fist bump and his rock. He said he really liked the one I picked out and I called him a nerd and then left him to do his homework. I myself got to doing some homework.
Wrong 5: Erik the Gentleman
When I was knee deep in Algebra 2 homework, I got a text from Erik.
Erik: Hey. Whatcha doin'?
Me: nothing. you?
Erik: Oh c'mon. You can't be doing nothing, because that would imply that you were dead and seeing as how you are texting me, you are not dead and so I ask again: Whatcha doin'?
I rolled my eyes at Erik's perfect grammar even in text and at his very annoying way of saying 'I am much smarter than you so please just answer my question'
I was happy to oblige.
Me: ok im doing homework.
Erik: What kind of homework?
Me: algebra 2 homework.
Erik: Sounds exhilerating.
Me: genuinely.
Erik: Haha! Anyway, I was wondering if you were free on Friday night?
Me: um i guess so. why?
Erik: Really? You don't know? *sigh* I want to go out on a date with you, Phyllis.
Me: oh
Erik: So, where do you want to go? We could go see a movie or go out to dinner?
Me: we could go to benjis.
Erik: And do what, exactly, there?
Me: well benjis is just kinda the place to hang. a lot of people come over and we just hang out and listen to music. it could be fun.
Erik: Are you just afraid to be alone with me?
Me: and if i was?
Erik: Then I'd say 'live a little'
Me: to which id reply 'cant. im busy'
Erik: Please? Pretty, pretty, please?
Me: ugh fine. dinner at gunther toodys?
Erik: Sounds great. 6:30?
Me: ok.
How I had gotten myself a date with some random guy I met in Breckenridge? You tell me.
I finished my homework, did some reading, then went to sleep.
The next morning, I met up with Amy at her place and we ate breakfast.
"So, how'd it go?" she asked eagerly.
"How'd what go?" I asked.
"You know, Erik. Did he ask you out?" she asked.
Oh. So that's how.
"Uhm yeah. How'd you know?" I already knew how she knew.
"I told him to ask you out." she said.
