The next morning I woke up in Erik's arms and I can assume that I'm at Benji's and that Amy had told my grandma that I was going to spend the night there.
I got up and tried my best not to wake anyone up.
I made us some breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast .
"Mmm, something smells good." Erik said as he came into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around me as I faced away from him and continued frying bacon. "How do you feel?" He asked. And I could tell he actually wanted to know, and didn't ask it out of courtesy.
"Better. And that's as good as I've felt these past few months." I tell him turning around and kissing him.
"That's good. See, coming over and talking to your friends was not such a bad idea after all." He said nuzzling my neck. I squeal, and push him away.
"That tickles." I giggle. He goes back in until I'm shrieking for him to stop.
"You guys." I heard someone mumble in the living room. Most likely Benji.
"Oh c'mon. It was high time you got up anyway." I say with a genuine smile on my face. I feel good this morning.
"Something smells like someone fried up heaven and decided to servve it to her deadbeat friends." Benji said getting up and sitting at the breakfast bar. "Look at that, I was right." He said eyeing the bacon. I served some up on a plate with a piece of toast and some eggs. Benji's eyes widened and he looked up at me with so much happiness, I thought he was back to being six years old on Christmas.
"Been a long time since someone's cooked for you?" I asked.
"Ages." He said digging in to his plate. I chuckled and served some to Erik, who sat next to Benji at the breakfast bar.
"I'll go wake up sleeping beauty." I said turning off the stove and walking in to the living room. "Wakey wakey eggs and bakey." I cooed into her ear.
"Was that even you still grumbling in bed at eleven thirty yesterday?" She mumbled. I chuckled. She got up and sat at the breakfast bar with the boys. I set plates in front of all of them, then made myself comfortable on the countertop. Suddenly, I was hit by this wave of emotion, remembering when Amy and I were kids, still bleary eyed from sleep and having breakfast served to us by my mom. I leaned against the counter and tried with all my will not to cry.
"Babes? You okay?" Amy asked. I could hear Eirk and Benji's intake of breath. I shook my head as a tear ran down my cheek. "You want to talk about it?" I shook my head again. I hear a chair being pushed back and arms being wrapped around me .
"You don't have to." Benji said in my ear. I turned around and hugged him, surpirsed it was him behind me and not Erik. I leaned my forehead on his shoulder andwrapped my arms aroung his waist. Benji was one of those people who weren't the comforting sort, but would be in dire need. I was thankful that he wouldn't mae me tal about it. If I went over the edge, I wasn't coming bac to being happy like I was todya.
I just wanted to be happy.
"Thank you." I whispered into Benji's neck. I breathed in his scent and was instantly comforted. Benji was there for me when I needed him to be. With everyone else, they tired to be there when I didn't want them to be. Benji knew when I needed him and never tried to suffocate me by trying to help me. I thanked him for that. A sob racked my body. Benji held tighter and I sobbed until I was spent.
I felt another body behind me, hugging both of us. I knew it was Amy. Finally, I finished crying and lifted my head. We all stepped back and I looked at Erik. He looked confused about what to do. I smiled a small smile at him and he grinned back.
"Better?" He asked. I nodded.
"Better. For now at least." I said. He smiled.
"Let's do something?" Amy said.
"Like what?" Benji asked wrapping his arms around her. She grinned.
"Rad trip? It is summer time and it would be so much fun! Please, please, please?" She asked. I looked at Erik, raising my eye brows. He shrugged. A wide grin that could only be described as wolfish spread across my face.
"Shall we?" I asked.
"We shall." Erik said. Amy clapped her hands.
"Okay, so, let's take Phyll's car and I'll grab some snacks and oh crap, we got to pack." She said quickly.
"Amy, how about this, I'll drop you off at your place, I'll go to mine we'll pack aand then all meet up back here in, say, an hour?" I said. Amy nodded and Benji grinned, refusing to take his arms away from her petite form. I smiled at them and looked to Erik.
"I'm down." He said shrugging.
"Great. Come along, Pond." I said to Amy. She followed me out the door and we got into my car. We prattled on about where to go, which routes to take, why we were going. I was just excited to be doing something for once. It had been too long.
When I dropped AMy off, I promised I'd be back in half an hour so we could get snacks for the road. I went home.
I realised that this would be the first trip me and Erik would be taking together. Amy and Benji, sure, but Erik was different. I mean, I really, really, liked the dude.
