Nice to meet you, where you been?

I could show you incredible things

Magic, madness, heaven, sin

Saw you there and I thought--

Taylor swift's voice is so amazing. But waking up every day to it, lessens it saccharinity. I snooze the alarm and fall back on the bed unless it hits me and I sit up straight grunting as it shoots slight pain in my back. Yes, yesterday I might have slept on the couch while waiting for my parents and even when they came back anyone didn't feel the need to wake me up until dinner and due to sleeping in a very cramped position on sofa both my neck and back were throbbing. After 'my not so revelation about the break-in' dinner I jumped straight on bed only to realize I cannot sleep since I already slept whole afternoon. So I decided to memorize the stuff that I have to for tomorrow's last oral exam. It was difficult to concentrate since I kept looking at the window again and again hoping that guy will somehow burst in my room through closed balcony door tearing the curtains aside to attack me. Yeah, I know I'm creative. So I kept my badminton racket on my side 'if' by chance my imagination came true, then so that's how I basically spent my whole night imagining, studying and imagining stuff.

After I finish my normal routine I get dressed and walk out of my room only to be greeted by the undesired pleasant smell of Upma. How delightful!(Note the sarcasm).Couldn't have Maa prepared something else today. I so hate Upma.(No offenses upma). Sighing I eat it without trying to show any resentment, after greeting everyone at the table.

"So, when are the results coming?" my dad asked me

I try not to spit out the upma at the sudden abstract question which I was expecting, but not so soon.

"By the end of this month...maybe."I feebly mumble out the last word not expecting anyone to hear but of course my infamous nefarious brother hears it and comments rather loudly,"What do you mean by 'Maybe?'...Maybe you'll fail...maybe you'll not pass...maybe you'll get suspended? Huh? What?" smirking at me.

Only if I had my badminton racket right now...

"Maybe the results will be out by the end of this month or maybe not. I don't know, but I'm not failing for sure like you will." I spit back smirking.

"I still have this whole month to study before my exams, Kirtan. So don't you worry about me."

Don't mind my brother, I've been called many names by him since birth and that one seems to be his favorite of all time. Before I could respond my dad answers him back,"This month only has 10 days left. So You better start studying Son." This time I proudly smirk back at him showing my teeth and wiggling my brows at him taunting and reminding him that I will always have my savior at my back so better be careful before next time. But as always mom pipes in taking his beloved son's side by bringing the attention back at me " You sure you gonna pass? I barely saw you studying during exams." she questions narrowing her eyes in the end.

I give her a look to which her beloved son points out at me showing his 32 teeth, which I wish I could break. "Yes Mom I'll pass." As if who even studies for 11th grade! I soon leave the house making an excuse as to reach college early and study before my orals.

EDUCATION IS BUSINESS IN INDIA.

Rote memorization is the culture of India, which leads to behavior encouraging cramming and forgetting rather than lifelong learning. It is one of the most profitable business. Better to start a college or school instead of company. Kidding. But they sure tune a student's mind into, "Life is a race, run fast, or else you'll be like a broken egg". And only teaches, 'how to score MARKS well rather than how to use the concept in REAL life. So broad-minded.
